@@tonestones9445 I appreciate the game on a level beyond appreciating people who appreciate the game. So when you light heartedly insulted the ref, I thought I would light heartedly point out why it's a tough gig, being the boss of the table.

Snooker is by far the easiest sport to referee, compared to football, cricket, rugby. Even darts. Snooker reffing is just counting & standing out of the way, with the very rare complex problem in which they always get the help of a second ref and TV screen.

He asked him to respot the pink. xD Players are allowed to request a ball be respotted once after it's replaced. Paul Collier shot that one down straight away, haha.

I believe that's what he said. The ref would have had to clean it if it were the white ball but they generally wipe colours when replacing them anyway. Technical aside, it was banter and they have a good relationship. Even being told no, was more a joke than an official remark.

As the age old adage goes; 'there's always a gap'.

@@xShEaTh9 Then it just goes behind the appropriate color. Even if "behind" is several balls back. Seen this done in other matches. NEVER seen red balls removed so a colored ball can go in their place.

@@FloydMaxwell The red was removed just to give the ref more space to correctly "respot" the pink. It was then put back in its original position.

In snooker, you pot a red, then a colour, then a red, then a colour, etc. until there are no reds left, then the colours in a specific order. Colours need to be replaced after being potted (15 reds, 6 colours)

This video shows that when a ball is being respotted and it's place on the table is occupied(the pink spot in this case) or is very hard to place he must put it in a specific place

I can't explain why, but it is quite normal for the pink to be pushed toward the blue when the pack of reds is split by the break-off stroke.
