Fun little project bike that I have been restoring. It turns out it is a little small for me. I'm looking for a good home for it.

    Another way to start is to set choke, twist left grip to decompress, pull clutch lever and pedal bike on road, then engage clutch and restore compression , keep pedaling while engine starts, turn off choke as engine warms up and operate throttle grip to putt away. Stop by pulling clutch lever and back-pedaling coaster brake and use front brake if any, engine will stay running with clutch disengaged. To proceed again, pedal bike and engage clutch gradually while throttling up. It takes a little practice. Whizzers were some of the first "mopeds". I had a Schwinn D-6 bike with front drum brake at age 13, wanted a Whizzer kit but later bought a '48 Indian Chief, rode various MC's all my life, don't ride now at 85.

    You want to be turning over (pedaling with clutch out after you get speed of course) the engine with the decompression lever engaged that way when you release the decompression leaver the momentum of the crank turning over will create more compression which we all know increases your chances at getting a pop (especially in the cold weather this is crucial as the whizzers don’t cold start on a breezy summer day)😂

    The decompression lever does no good if your pedaling it with the clutch in as you pedaling does turn over the engine with the clutch in

    Anyone who wants to know how to start one right needs to know how a decompression lever works

    Thanks for the memories. Road my friends Pacemaker Whizzer back in 1948 when I was 7 years old. By the time I was 14 I had a 1942 Harley 45 flat head. Been on two wheels all my life in one form or another. My present ride is a 99 Harley Softail Custom.. I will be 80 this year, but still love riding on two wheels.

    YOU need to hook up an electric drill for a starter!

      How do you start it? Originally had fuel on, ignition on, and choke up. Didn't play with the compression thing at all. It won't start that way. What do i do?

    • @PhilipHutton
      @PhilipHutton Před 6 lety

      just keep pedaling, don't stop then release the clutch

    This was a fun little toy. It is sold. I had a lot of fun with it. I now have a Kawasaki KLR250. A nice graduation from the Whizzer.

      Yes!!!! I sold it for $680 to a wonderful guy who indicated that he will fully restore it and hang it in his new motorcycle museum to be constructed in Crosses, AR. Haven't heard about he opening event yet, but he said it may be a little while. Thanks for the comment!
