if I remember right the style for the second game was loss and guilt rather than pure horror, it was something explained better in the making of dvd. Guy Cihi talks about how he was coached in the feelings the creative team wanted in the playthrough with Fungo

how do you unlock this?
it's not something you unlock, born from a wish was a separate scenario released with specific versions of silent hill 2. director's cut for the PS2 (the version I used here) or inner fears for XBOX. it's available right as soon as the game starts
wow, that sucks so much, amazon doesn't even have it for ps2, just for xbox only, this game was such a masterpiece and i was eager to play this part as mariah, it's a lot more spookier and thought provoking, i'll just have to miss out on this one

funnily enough that part wasn't really causing me too much trouble, it was the part where I had to shoot the meteorites. too many targets too little time
it was unusually hard a few times back, couldn't think how I beat it. of course when I try to show what a bad time it was giving me IT WOULD HAVE TO BE UNCOOPERATIVELY EASY

It also helps to do all of her side quests which is what I did, earning her loyalty and trust. You can do this whether you choose to be rival or friend.
The reason she won't give up the book is because you are not 100% friend or rival(for respect) with her. I was 100% friend with her, she came back with the Qunari relic and then I did this in ACT III mostly for the interesting dialogue options. I've never played this game in any other act so I had the choice to remind her that she owes me for stealing the quanari relic, but I didn't even have to because we were friends.
@LemonSuckers4ever all right, after awakening then. wonder if I'll have an overpowered character again, once I had a lvl 37 mage with every specialisation except blood mage
@LemonSuckers4ever the biggest problem with that is you get different quests, I.e. the second trip to the deep roads is different, but it's perspective, still need to finish the main game before I finalise anything. the rest on back burner is golems of amgarrock, witch hunt, leliana's song and darkspawn chronicles. end me any of those choices you'd like to see
@LemonSuckers4ever path of dragon age: first part you know, second part is dalish origin, next is dragon age 2 after that awakening, the follow on is the rest of the origins and to finish the alternative scenes. haven't decided if I'll do any of the standalone dlc
@LemonSuckers4ever a lot of what I do is off screen, the traps a a girl best friend quest in the village of lothering for example I do off screen because you can spam it and level up as high as you want
@LemonSuckers4ever I spend about an hour every second evening, that gives me about between 6 and 8 videos. then I upload half the videos on the day before the next session, just finished my next set
