RAZORS

Razors is a dual voltage controlled frequency tripler........sort of, maybe best viewed as a harmonic generator for sine and triangle waves or a fuzz/distortion. Out 1 is sent to In 2 to get them running in series www.nonlinearcircuits.com/modules/p/razors
Frisson 1

CV controlled chaos module based on Mackey-Glass equations. Just trying different settings, at 1st with no input, then with input signals from LFO and Snake Joke to control/influence the chaos. Outputs to 2 VCOs and a VCF. www.nonlinearcircuits.com/modules/p/frisson

Snake Joke - Euclidian pattern generator designed by Tom Hirst. Just patching the gate outs into tinkle (quad drum module) and CV out into FM OP (VCO) www.nonlinearcircuits.com/modules/p/snakejoke
snakey frisson

Just a patch with Snake Joke controlling Tinkle (drums) and Frisson doing CV duties. These modules will be available around mid-April. It sounded good so just had to record it.

Found some old tapes recorded off the radio in the early 90s. Beats Per Minute on RTR-FM in Perth went for something like 30 years with Colin Bridges at the desk (Fri 1AM-6AM). It was always the best place to hear the newest electronic music. Might have the year wrong on this......things were fast and loose back then. A good slab of 90s techno in this set.
BPM 1994 maybe

Don't know much about this, a friend recorded it. Guess sometime between 1990 and 1992? Anyway, some great House music with almost endless chatter from the DJ(s) to their mates and giving out their pager numbers every 10 minutes.
🔥🔥🔥 sounds amazing! Ripping and gritty ✨🤘✨
2:21 look sir, droids!
yay !
YES - I've been hunting for a multi-window comparator in a reasonable package & price, and I could've never forseen we'd get one so suddenly with that nutty NLC charm!
Interesting!
Exactly!
Sounds awesome! 🔥🔥✨✨🔥✨
Love how flowy the whole sequence of PWM's are, like liquid phase waves!
What a good dog.
Hell yeah, new NLC and it's a waveshaper! I know stuff like this is "best" paored with simple waveforms, but that Tinkle jam has such a neat sound to it - like busted-speaker, AM... Gated Fuzz? Haven't even checked the page for further deets yet, but is this kosher with LFO rates as well, and are there multiple outs breaking out a few different frequency multiplications?

NLC baby ❤❤❤ Can’t get enough of that shit 😊 Love it when you fed it the triangle wave and it lit up like KITT from Night Rider

Just started running external audio through it via the envelope follower, really transforms the sound. Amazing module!
The D in ADSR stands for DOG, right?
Apply directly to the forehead! Awesome ❤

This module looks rather simple but is an extremely versatile one in a rack. I like the cross modulations possibilities in particular. About to build my 4th one ;)
Any way to force this thing into sub-autio rates, even by feeding it just slow LFOs/chaos and trying to keep a "master" reset for the cascades the slowest of the bunch? Love PLL stuff, but curious if this thing can be brought down to majority-slow rates that would allow complex/glitchy LFO's to be born from just 2 or 3 more simple CV sources. Or if it's possible to bring it slow enough to create glitchy stutter patterns and such.
You could put larger caps on the VCOs, but generally PLLs aren't so keen at sub-audio - they need a fair bit of encouragement to do anything.
honestly i think im gonna be rocking with this instead of the tiptop buchla 296t
Cool
Wildness!
did Isaac sneak into your shed
I got the Melakarta from him last month, it is good fun.
Was the Frisson on display here built with caps from the slow end of the table? Asking because this is exactly the flavor I’ve always wanted from chaos.
Yes, the white panel one is the slow version and used for the bulk of the vid.
Aha. Missing the informational intro crawl = not enough coffee. Thanks.
I can't really explain why, but that was very satisfying to watch and listen to. Like a goofy modular pigeon strutting around, cooing. Anyways... Very cool setup.
Holy moly whatta pinger
Thanks for teasing us with some new modules! Feels always like Christmas 😀 Now we just need to know more about the Starship ...
so much wonk! no idea what's going on, as usual, but it's rad. What's Starship tho?
What's Frisson? Some type of mix between a phaser for CV signals and a chaos circuit?
it is a chaos circuit based on the Mackey-Glass system; a nonlinear stage, a low pass filter and a delay. In this module the delay is an 8 stage phase shifter running at CV rates (sub-audio), so it is voltage controlled chaos. The chaos from it is very wiggly and complex with multiple strange attractors. There is a switch to just use the Phase shifter section for processing CVs, the 8 outputs are from the 8 stages and the signal is progressively slewed as it travels thru.....................so voltage controlled 8 stage slew with feedback as a bonus.
@@cirtcele That sounds awesome! can't wait to see more
music that's music :)
digging the green panels boss
Now I've got to come up with some more HP. This just never ends. 😂
What's the snake joke, a shift register? a switch? a joke? sounds great!
A switched shift register/S&H?! WE NEED TO KNOW!
@@goonfishEuclidian CV/gate/trigger generator - designed by Tom Hirst
Cannot wait to try this. Easily the most excited I’ve been for a module in some time.
Sublime!
whatever happened at 11:00, I loved it
that was music to my ears.

Great module. Lots of character. I wish we had an active dealer in Europe. 3u shop is no longer shipping outside Germany :(
3u shop will ship outside of Germany, but you have to order by email rather than thru the webstore.
I am in love!
this design is an insta buy for me, dawg <3
Beautiful. Another super addition to the NLC stable.
oooh love it, great breakup, sounds lovely
Can't wait to read more about this!
Oh that is nice !! Crunchy and delicate, alive, thanks ! It is diiferent, and I sure would like to have this in the room I am in now.
This is one module that makes an appearance in *_all_* of my compositions. The funny thing is that I didn't even order it. I was sent the wrong board, but I decided to keep it. Great job. Thanks!
.... so if accent is patched it cancels out any trig input... ?
Yes, it needs a CV or gate .....or audio ..... to work
This would be a great CV source too! ;-)
Nice!!
