Fantastic tribute to what sounds like an amazing chief,firefighter, brother, and friend. I know no words can take away the pain of losing one of your own. From one firefighter to another may I say he would have been proud of this tribute. Rest in peace Chief.

Having been in the fire service and still in the fire service I only wish that I had had the privilege to have worked under such a man as Chief Himsel. I wish I had known Chief Himsel, he sounded like a leader who always looked out for his firefighters by advancing his department through the years through training and knowledge of new technologies. He reminds me of a Chief I had the pleasure of knowing early in my career by the name of George H, Proper. Chief Proper was a futuristic leader who was at least 10 years ahead of his time in the 60's, 70. and 80's which was a time of great change for the entire fire service God Bless

For a very, very brief time I was with FDMH as my career took me to the Town of Madison and later to the City of Madison Fire Department as a firefighter. I have since moved on from the fire service and no longer wear a helmet nor bunkers. My expereince in working alongside Chuck, or in the same county or area even, taught me what a difference, what an impact one person can have. An incredible teacher and mentor. Here's to you Chief...........
