I was 19 and this was my first time voting in a state election. I was at an election night party in Hendra watching this ABC coverage. When they announced Labor had won the election, a roar erupted across Brisbane which was met by a second roar of jubilation across this great city. That was one the most astounding moments in my life and a memory I will always treasure.

I remember this night well after watching the 1986 when Joh won in a landslide and watching the 11 may 1987 4 corners episode called the Moonlight state and watching Joh give up the leadership 3 months later this had to happen after Wayne Goss lead in opposition so effectively between 87-89 and the Election ads with the slogan the only change for the better and it really was seeing the demise of the Nationals was a real breathe of fresh air.
