Bottoms is an idiot. Our constitution forbids government from supporting any religion or creating a state religion. He lied about "god" creating marriage, as people would simply declare themselves to be married in the past. Religion came into it as only a mere blessing of such a joining of 2 people, religion did not create the state of marriage.

In Colorado, shouldn’t it only require 50% because it is only a repeal measure? Any new amendment to the constitution requires 55% to pass, except if it is a measure to repeal which only requires a simple majority vote.

Wait, how is the guy arguing god’s laws in a statehouse? I thought the whole thing with America was separation of church and state. Man wants to talk about god’s laws, but if you follow that logic then you also get slavery, appropriate domestic abuse, i can sell my daughters off for marriage, etc. I don’t follow his god’s laws, and to be frank, neither does he. Old testament, new testament, book of mormon, etc. Like imagine you get to heaven and god’s like, “Hey i put out the new revision, but you folks didnt follow it and called it ridiculous. If you’re religious and these questions are overwhelming or you don’t have answers to them, congrats! You are but a humble mortal. I’m not religious. I am also not a god. Neither are you. Calm down. A god will punish/reward and JUDGE as they see fit. Leave the mortal world to mortals, and if we face judgement so be it. We made our choices. Stop mucking up your own chances by being a *******. Let your god decide that, you’re not your god, a god, or my god. My god is respect to all who respect others. Which is to say, my own morality. As clearly as it is anyone else. Follow your morality, but don’t drag your higher power or higher calling into it. Only Christian church sanctioned marriages under specific Christian denominations that agree with his interpretation of Christianity. All major religions and most cultures in the world have some type of marriage ritual, all of which are invalid according to him.

Why are people so concerned about what other people do with their lives? If you object due to your personal religious views, then don't get married to a same sex partner. However, denying someone from doing something based solely on YOUR religious beliefs, robs the other person(s) of THEIR religious beliefs. Your personal religious views are your own - and everyone has a right to believe and/or worship whatever and whomever they want.
