    Happy to announced I just passed my FE exam (on the first try)! I was very overwhelmed with the studying process, but I watched all of your videos and it helped me immensely. This is an awesome resource that you have provided and I recommend to all Civil students who ask for tips on studying for the exam.

    I just passed the exam on my first attempt after watching and learning through these playlist videos for the whole three weeks of my studying. These videos highlight whatever you need to know about each civil topic and Mark’s explanation is super clear. I also recommended these to my colleagues. Mark, I want to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these videos. Even though I never met you before, I respect you as my professor. Thanks for making it available and free for everyone.

    For QS 18 shouldn't the Z value = -2 ; 4000(X)-4400(mew)/200(sigma).....If yes how would we locate the negative Z value from the given tables in the reference book.

    Nobody's said this and it's driving me wild. For question 17 the only way you get 2 cm is if you use the natural log (ln) instead of log base 10. If you use log base 10 then you get closer to 0.90cm

Your review videos were very helpful to me while I was studying in preparation for the FE exam, especially since I graduated 10 years ago and have forgotten most of these subjects. Thank you again! Hello sir, I have just passed my Civil FE. I just want to say thank you so much for your videos. I graduated college in May 2022, but I got a job immediately and pushed off the exam till March of 2023. But I didn’t study at all and just used it for practice and failed. Again I pushed it off till this June 2024, but this time I studied only for 2 weeks and all I did was watch every video you have and do some practice problems from the FE civil practice exam. But truly your videos did the trick! So thank you.

    I made problem #1 way more challenging than I had to after watching Mark's method. I used the sum of moments twice, sum of forces in x and y, and two equation two unknowns solve.

    • @1crida1
      @1crida1 Před měsícem

      For #1, I was able to remove one step and obtain an answer of 16 by using the following equation for the sum of moments. This is in comparison to breaking EC into an x and y component like Mark did: Sum of the moment at point D = 20 kips (8 ft) + EC (10 ft) = 0 ==> EC = -16 kips

    for question #7 towards the end when your calculating for overturning moment you multiply the weight of water (18k) by 8'? why do you multiply by 8'? that's the width of WC1? I'm just a little confused on that. Is it because the weight of that water is acting on the whole width of WC1?

    For the first question, Live load reduction is not allowed for heavy loads greater than 100 psf (4.7.3 of ASCE 7-16). If it supports more than 2 floors (not given) then 20% reduction is allowed. So there should be no reduction taking place, right? I do not see thus stipulation in the handbook, but it is in the code. So the answer should be the 1300 Kip-ft right?

    • @1crida1
      @1crida1 Před měsícem

      Okay. I spent the time to follow Mark's method and I discovered a solution that's much quicker. Step 1) Coarse aggregate Weight, SSD @1.5% = (1,700 lbs / [100+(2-0.5)]%) = 1,675 lbs Water = 1,700 lbs - 1,675 lbs = 25 lbs Step 2) Fine aggregate Weight SSD @1% = (1,545 lbs / [100+(2-1)]%) = 1,530 lbs Water = 1,545 lbs - 1,530 lbs = 15 lbs Step 3) Total water Total water = 272 lbs - 25 lbs - 15 lbs = 232 lbs. Essentially, instead of calculating the weights at both the factory conditions and what we need it be at, I just took the differences between the two.
