Horses Trailers and Lubrication
Insufficient Lubricant is the most common cause of wheel bearing failure causing loss of the wheel and can lead to fire and costly repairs. A scheduled maintenance is the best prevention. I go over what I do each year to keep my trailer in top condition.

Most of the Latigos I get don’t have enough holes and not close enough together. Here is how I fix them up for me when I get them.

This is an injury I’ve seen happen several times and although it is rare it pays to prevent it. It is very difficult to treat.
End saddle pain

This is the #1 saddle modification I do and get asked to do on saddles. It makes the ride more comfortable, puts you in a better position, and eliminates stress on your knees and ankles.

My Intern Forges a Weapon!
zhlédnutí 56Před měsícem
I like to give my interns lots of opportunities to develop skills that are related to horses, There are many skills that I use everyday that aren’t exactly horse specific. Working with metal is one of those skills, my intern Lilly built herself a knife and a sheath to carry it in and now she is looking for something to cut..
How’s it made, snaffle bits
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 2 měsíci
While the weather was cold and snowy I decided to spend some time inside the shop making some snaffle bits, I had some orders for a few custom bits and made a few during this video. Hope you like it and learn a little more about how a snaffle is made.
Hitching Rail Spacing Tip.

This is a cool addition to a hitching rail. It enables you to set the distance between horses to keep them from crowding each other.
Deep Relationship Demonstrated
zhlédnutí 349Před 2 měsíci
Sometimes it’s beneficial and motivating to watch a demonstration of partnership and how deep a relationship can reach. My horse and I often depend on each other to achieve a common goal or task. I don’t normally do it without a bridle, but I know I can because often I never have to pick up the reins. Hope this inspires you to get a closer and deeper relationship with your horse!
What Reins I Use.

There are several types of reins that are used with bits, they all have pros and cons. We go over the types and some of the benefits of each one.

I like being prepared for the most common situations that I may encounter every day, this is what I carry every day. If your an intern having the most common items you need to fix a problem will definitely be noticed by your boss and move you up in status.
What Are You Paying For?

When we pay horse trainers that money pays for lots of things, some of which are the facility and upkeep of that, we talk about the importance of the facility and what it means to you and your horse.
How Pros Use Saddle Strings
zhlédnutí 3,6KPřed 3 měsíci
This is the second most popular modification I am asked to help with. It’s a great way to make your saddle more versatile as well as looking cool! Most cowboys that ride for a living have rings on their saddle strings for how handy it makes it to attach things.
Hey folks, just wanted to recommend Chuck's Woodbarn LLC for their collapsible wooden saddle rack! I recently put one together for my tack room and it's been a total game-changer. Sturdy, easy to assemble, and saves so much space when not in use. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking to upgrade your stable organization!
It's totally unnecessary to remove the Blevins buckle from the stirrup leather and turn it around and reattach it. The "quick fix" as you call it works fine -- permanently. In fact, when you do the "quick fix", you can still wrap the end of the stirrup leather around the top of the stirrup just like before. The way you're talking about doing it, the end of the stirrup leather is stuck on the outside, next to the horse. Which isn't a huge deal I guess, but it looks better folded inside the loop.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Love these pearls of wisdom!
So glad you are enjoying them!
Genius!!!
👍🏻
Does this concentrate the pressure on the outside of the stirrup leather? It looks like it may.
It won't effect the pressure on either side of the stirrup leather. It is the same as putting a twist in a rachet strap..
Awesome but why don’t they do this as the saddle is being made? For the kind of money you pay seems to me it should be done right in the first place!
Manufacturers don't do it because it's not necessary to detach and reattach the Blevins buckle as suggested in this video.. For shipping and retail displaying, it's more convenient and takes up less space for the stirrup to rest "against the horse". It's no big deal to just flip the end of the stirrup leather (the buckle end) around when it's time to ride. There are plenty of youtube videos that demonstrate how easy this is.
I found a wire rope or cable thimble is the best for that especially when using braid. The braid goes round the outside so has good electrical conduct and a nice wide & conductive opening for the hook.
Thanks so much for showing how to fix my stirrups. This made my saddle feel so much better!!
Now i know how my custom bit that you made for Acorn was made!! So cool.
Nice knife and sheath. Now you better be nice to her !
Wtf are snaffle bits??!!??!
A snaffle bit is a type or style of bit that horses wear. The reins are attached to rings one on each side to direct the horse where to go.
I had no clue what a snaffle was, but now i know. nice work
Good knot to know . I usually just do 2 half hitches. No quick release though. As a kid l was taught tje quick release slip knot . Nothing quick about it if pulled tight. 😢
Pretty good idea.
Nice tip, thanks

Awesome glasses 👓 😊
One time l was riding my horse up a steep creek bank he flounderd , fell on his left side down hill .could get him up , so l unbuckled the back cinch and cut the off billet at the cinch ring , got the saddle off and he was able to get up . Luckily l had one hole left in the billet to rerig my saddle and get home. Moral of the story... always carry a sharp knife!
Thanks from Lander Wyoming

That pony is rank but not rank as you. There's a dirty side to training sometimes, and if it's got to happen, thanks for videoing the entertainment. Just ingore all these keyboard horse trainers. They can just stfu or keep scrolling. You're doing a fine job.
Nice hack . Where can you find the rings? Also, nice looking saddle. Handmade?
I normally get them from saddle repair shops, they also are available at Amazon or the hardware store.
Excuse me, what’s the brand and model of your waxed vest please ? Thanks
This one is a Schaffer they wear really well and are made in the USA,
Thank you for sharing and the reminder to pray for wisdom.
Thanks for listening
Great idea! Aren't cordless drills great !
Absolutely!
I've tied many many years with rope halters on cross ties and NEVER had a problem. As Mark is saying, you must first know if your horse ties well. It depends on the horse and the owner.
Don’t worry partner. I get these same kind of comments. I guess neither of us understand horses, or today’s internet culture.
If you understood horses, you would not use cross ties.
While I don't use cross ties often, they are a common and useful way to restrain a horse. Any property trained horse should be able to be cross tied and feel comfortable in that restraint. I feel good knowing that the horses I train go on to live long and productive lives and provide their owners joy and happiness in their relationship together, partly because of the training I gave them.
Pony looks around… well that didn’t work!! 😂😅😂
Lead and feed. Where the horse leads it's person around so it can eat. On the other hand, your stuck along the highway, it hot and you don't have any hay with you then you have to make the best of a bad situation.
Love this!

So agree. And we need more young men involved with horsemanship, too. The men are disappearing in that world across the US and we need the solid character in our next generation of young men that comes from being good stewards of horses and land.
Unfortunately its our leadership in this country that is behind a lot of this and it's really been going on for decades and made worse by technology. We are all having wedges driven in between us all by race, then sexual orientation and now gender, plus the age old class warfare. Its an easier path to blame others for our own shortcomings which is what the ruling class uses against us as well as fear. Sometimes using ones mind to think things through is much harder work than digging a ditch with a pick and shovel.
I love the shape of that horses head. Majestic and stout.
No desperdicie esa delicia de leche materna ya cualquiera quisiera probarlo 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋
true. one of my clients always turned out at the gate..her beautiful face was caved in one sunny sunday morning..listen to this vid. k
Do you think the breed makes a difference ? I have an OTTB and he has some behaviors which seem typical of TBs. So I kind of work with it. Like when out with a buddy in the field, he has to come in first or it turns into a rodeo. It’s something that I chalk up to his breeding
That's somethin you'd think only a lil kid would do ...but nope...its growed ups. Sad. My mule paws , he would put it on his foot on purpose and then get all dramatic and bugeyed for the effect.
seems very normal & natural when you do it this way. You would not know from this that there is a worse, less desirable way to have a horse react when you take off the bridle!
I can't resist stopping to watch when they go a little bonkers when turned out, but I always behave as if it's nothing special. Just stopping to have a little look if they do behave funny :')
Excellent.
Great advice! I prefer turning out this way too. Too many “oops” moments where they were quite free of the lead rope … and a friend who got kicked and shattered his hand.
That’s beautiful
Excellent point. Same with those tied a trailer and laying on the ground. My 3 children were taught better but it seems few were.
Excellent advice.
These are the little things you may regret for the rest of your life,it falls under ,thehorsepersons comment,o that wouldn’t happen, or my personal favorite,o my horse would never do that, you wanna bet, hospitals are full of them singing that song
