People say that some chars are better off being duel specific but immediately want to push Sohei to get buffed to be more viable in 4s. I hate this bandwagon of hypocrisy. Duels is a gamemode that just doesn't keep the consistency of excitement or fills the urge to keep playing long term. Which is where Elim comes in which I personally enjoy the most. But like duels, elimination's mmr doesn't matter because there aren't enough players, duels have become similar because it's not always matching me with someone with my mmr. So, it just annoys me that people will defend long term chars that are centered around duels to remain that way but immediately want new chars to be viable in all aspects of the game. There's hardly a diverse pick of chars in 4s because of the chars that center around duels while also having the lowest pick-rate in the game. I just can't believe players are making this indefensible, it's infuriating. Because if you pick a duels specific char in 4s because you simply just enjoy the char. There's a struggle factor and it could potentially throw the game for your team if you don't know what you're doing. It's just become mentally draining that I know for a fact that the game would become more diverse if there was more choices rather being a part of this predominant meta bandwagon cesspool. And I'm going to call it like it is, most players DO NOT CARE about uniqueness no matter how much they claim they do. Because most of the unique chars in the roster have the lowest pickrate in the game sitting at a single rep or none at all.

You see the problem is to punish for mistake other heroes need to use skill. Sohei just press a button and half of hp gone in unblockable, undodgable and unavoidable damage.

I think most of Sohei's problems come from problems with For Honor more than anything. For Honor doesn't have block strings or inherent, character-wide mixups and etc. that you would find in your Tekkens, Street Fighters, and Mortal Kombats. If someone can react to your kit when playing Sohei, the character becomes completely devoid of meaningful pressure. The same is true for Nobushi. Reactions reign supreme over any other skill in For Honor, and I've always disliked that about the core of the game.

Sohei is garbage. Id argue he's the worst character in the game if it wasn't for his 1 shot. Terrible kit carried by a brain dead gimmick.

No he definitely needs a buff, lights and heavy doesn't do much . The only thing going for it is it's 1 shot which is hard to get the souls as it is

This might be a dumb idea but what if in chain zoned used his main weapon and one of the heavy or light weapons and they make it directional, so whichever direction you have your guard at itll use the different weapons, so that when he lands a zone he also gains a stack

Whats weird is his zone is faster, invunerable to GBs (so you can get GBs by bouncing the opp GBs) and does more damage than his heavy. Not to mention you can chain it into a light or a heavy so it makes it seem like a bad idea to ever use a neutral heavy besides for parrying.

24:55 My thoughts exactly as well, IMO this character has the most personality and uniqueness of the whole roaster, and i would much rather him stay a steaming pile of garbage then take away his individuality by giving him the same old bash/undodgeable mix with recovery cancels. Love you S! ❤

I think the last part is the most important in this. We are NOT complaining because his kit or design are boring, but because he's weak. PLEASE, ubi do not change his identity, just give him some damage and he good to go

He just needs a better way to pressure people into trying to parry him. Id say just make his 400ms lights enhanced. Zone->light->zone->light->zone->light enough times and people will eventually try to parry.

Let’s get over this already and just point out how awful of a design choice this was. Like don’t get me wrong hes unique, cool, and funny. But how the hell did they think they could balance character with a one shot in his moveset? He should’ve gotten a way different kit.

He is one of the best character designs so far. Just has more depth. They’re clearly into anime at Ubisoft
