I have one in my front yard that was planted in 1968 according to my neighbors who said the developers had planted them throughout the neighborhood. They are quite messy in the spring as the cones will explode in the warmer weather leaving a carpet of pinecones petals everywhere. In the summer they release clouds of yellow pollen that set my allergies off in a frenzy for several weeks. They do produce beautiful rose shape cones that I harvest in the spring for crafts by soaking in a 50/50 water and vinegar for a couple hours. I put them underneath my pellet stove to dry instead of the oven. It is quite lovely to see them open up and look spectacular with dehydrated orange slices and cinnamon sticks in a swag or wreath form.

I appreciate this look at the tree in someone’s yard. Most pictures (and videos) online show only the most picturesque “Better Homes & Gardens” sides of the tree, but this video shows a more real life view, I feel.

I love it too, it's great if you have space for a large tree. It's easy to maintain and control despite what some say.
