Winkles & Moose’s Amtrak Adventures
United States
Registrace 31. 10. 2013
Winkles and Moose’s Amtrak Adventures commemorate my grandfather, whose life was deeply intertwined with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Despite his tragic passing in a 1918 accident, his passion for trains endured through my father, an avid rail traveler. In his final months, we found solace in exploring train adventures online.
Inspired by his enduring love, I embarked on a transformative journey with Moose, spanning 6,000 miles across 18 states to reunite with family. Opting for coach accommodations, we embraced the simplicity of travel, cherishing the authenticity of the American heartland. Within coach class, we forged connections with fellow passengers, sharing stories and laughter.
Moreover, our videos delve into riding comfortably in Amtrak Coach seats, emphasizing passenger comfort, accessibility, and affordability. By addressing these aspects, we strive to enhance the overall travel experience and promote inclusivity for all travelers, regardless of income level.

Trains are pretty fun to watch
That train just passed by my school in Goleta and now it’s stopped in my neighborhood
This is great! Denver has a pool and it’s fun watching thru the glad to see them swim underwater ❤❤
I never knew they could go underwater??
Where did you catch the arial view?
Tha parking structure west of the Fullerton Transportation Center (Amtrak Station). You can walk along the walkway by the tracks into the parking structure. It’s three floors high, so pretty sweet.
Check out the JefDiee on Amazon: JefDiee Inflatable Foot Rest Pillow, Kids Airplane Bed, Adjustable 3 Layers Height Leg Rest Pillow, Airplane Travel Essentials Great for Airplane, Office, Home, Trains, Cars
I gotta go check that out
They’re up on the 6th or 7th floor…
Maybe the best Hearing Impairment Simulator on CZcams
Check out my new version or updated version, corrected the sound issues😀😀
Finally someone who understands the spirit and craft of Amtrak Coach Life!
Amtrak 💺
He really wosent foaming tbh he was just being a regular railfan
Thanks, as usual no Observation Car😮
There was a time when the railroad ding dong ditched the museum it was around the time when it was donated and they left it in the middle of the street
Sounds like you have personal history with it? Are you from Indiana?
@@winkles-moose2022 I’m actually from Texas
Fact: as a native Michigander, who has been to The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, i must say the size of 3001 is impressive, as well as it being in its somewhat original condition and the sheer size of those drivers are nuts! But nothing to a near size of C&O 1601…
So nice to see this! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Music is too loud to understand what you are saying 😢
@@onmyway7363 Agree, this was one of my first, if you look on CZcams I produced a “New Version” that cleaned that issue up. Enjoy
....Wayyyy to much time along...
Foamer nation 😂
That is actually the MacAurthur bridge. The merchants bridge is more north
Does Amtrak allow the travel footrests?
Yes, I used one one four different trains, with no problems. They don’t interfere with anyone. Their big issue is things blocking access and the aisles.
I’m getting that foot rest game changer.
It’s worth the $20 on Amazon, small package to carry.
Good info 👍🏾
Glad it was helpful!
A truly beautiful machine ❤
I wish i could have heard him over the music and waffling mic.
Sorry, check out the New Version I posted, cleared up the sound issues. That was my first go at it.
@@winkles-moose2022 Thanks for pointing that out. I JUST got a new home theater setup and thought one of my new speakers had a rip or something. Really great info in the video, though!
Sightseer Lounges are returning to the Texas Eagle in October of this year. It’s a big relief, but at the same time I’m unimpressed how long it took for this to happen!!! All the other trains in the west have been back to traditional dining since summer 2021. They have been back to letting coach passengers in the dining car since March of last year. Yet it takes longer to start restoring amenities to the most gutted route!! But at least it’s happening. As of now there aren’t plans to restore a lounge on the Capitol Limited.
Thanks for the update. The Texas Eagle is such a long run, even from Chicago to San Antonio, people will be pleased.
The old chickenbone #59 Chicago to new Orleans #58 from new Orleans to Chicago
Explain the “chickenbone”, #58 looked pretty rough shape.
Cool name -- “the old chicken bone” how old is it and where is it from?
As a dude without any problem of sleeping and as always sleept seated i find it easy👍 but thanks for the video
Your lucky!
That’s awesome, the CSX employee we met was great also, he traveled between three small stations to open and close them as needed. And was full of local information.!
Kudos to Station Master Curtis whose humor and good nature kept us entertained while we waited for a landslide to be cleared off the tracks a few yrs ago.
Good information dude. Thanks.
Thanks, hope you have a good trip.
Very nice. However, it was often difficult to hear your soft voice against the music in the background.
Thanks, this was one of my first posts, so a little bit of a learning curve. I've posted a "New Version" that has better sound and toned down the music. Good luck if you hit the rails.
Nice video! Good totem for you!
Thanks!
I’m in Idaho and hawks are everywhere- there like idahos pigeons 💀
Not so much here, what do they feed on that keeps them going?
Well where I live it’s mostly like rats mice and moles, and I’d guess small dogs and cats. I’ve only ever seen small hawks around my place but other places are more populated with ‘em
That is an AWESOME structure !! It’s a lot bigger than I expected. 🇺🇸✌️💙
Yes it was, a little intimidating, but once you get up there it’s super cool.😎
Good catch! Where was this filmed?
On a siding near Albany, Oregon
We called that a ballast regulator
Thanks, what does it do? Is it for the roadbed?
Thank you for re-making this video with better audio quality 🙏🏻
No problem 😊
Making videos is definitely a work in progress.
It took forever for the ALC’s to be worked in with MetroLink in SoCal.
This is kind of sad. It’s like the P42s working with the old F40s except the P42s are the ones getting replaced by the ALC’s here.
Great take, the P42s just wouldn’t go away, due to the ALC’s issues. I talked to an engineer and he wasn’t impressed with the new engines. Concerned about the sight lines.
Bring a pint of Johnnie Walker Black. Had a nice trip from Sea to Chicago in a roomette.
I live less than 5 miles from there, but have not been up to see it in years.
Probably a little cold right now, but it’s amazing hearing the pull of the engines in the curve. Plus the cool tunnels under the rails.
Magnificent station
Good point on the headphones.
Having ridden a long distance train at the bulk head, Iam not sure I would recommend it. Every time anybody walks through to the next care you at wakened by the door opening and closing not to mention the blast of air that comes with it.
Actually I agree with you, it’s a trade off for more room. Ear plugs or sound canceling headphones are a must.
They got rid of them caboose in the 80s 😢
True, but what’s up with this one?
I'm going to be taking my very first train 🚉 ride to California and this helps me a lot tysm for sharing 😊❤
Enjoy!
Great info, but your microphone quality is terrible. Very hard to hear.
Sorry about that, I agree! So I created a New Version, that I think is much better. But, due to the conversations, I left the old version posted. czcams.com/video/4-uXXvn7mRM/video.htmlsi=weZCYVnQPetubJ3d
very nice cant wait tosee the next installment
Great info! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
What time of day was this? Thanks for sharing!
7:30 am in the morning.
might have been a good video BUT the music is as loud as your voice and that makes it hard to hear what you're saying. between the 2 which do think is more important????
Thanks for the advice, I created a “New Version” where I made some adjustments, but the old version keeps getting picked up. I was tempted to delete the old one, but didn’t want to loose the conversation.😗
Yeah I couldn't hear it either. Could you let me know the name of the travel foot rest or a link to where I could find it?@@winkles-moose2022
Great tips. Ive gone from ATL to NYC twice in coach. Just got back from a NYC to New Orleans in a roomette which was train heaven. For me to consider a long overnight trip in coach, Amtrak would have to offer a single seat option. I really dont like strangers that close for that long. Great tips though!
Great input, I liked the single seat option during Covid , just so much more comfortable.
