Excellent documentary. Learned a lot about the Jewish people and their struggle at the start of the 20th Century.
@miri53 It's there but out of order, higher up in the list.
The "idea" that the Shemita sabbatical year isn't of Torah origin anymore but of Rabbinic origin is a bold Rabbinic lie, notwithstanding what Orthodox Jews say to support this falsehood. The Torah doesn't set a "loophole" through which Jews in Israel may circumvent the Shemitah commandments or abrogate them.
What about theodor herzl? What affect did he have on the lovers of Zion?
Actually, the pogrom & the antisemitc policies generally were all part of a larger PROGRAM by the imperial gov't to solve what they saw as the nationalism problem. The Russian gov't was concerned about rise of nationalism so it was thought that a policy or Russification would solve this. That is, Non-russian ethnic identities would suppressed & made more Russian. Even other Orthodox churches were to be forced to give up their separate identities. That is what happened.
Does Judaism encourage learning beyond its faith? Such as physics, medicine, geology, etc?
dunno why but i find this rabbi very sympathetic. the whole series of his videos are very interesting, concise and straighforward. too short though!!
Great to see Jewish History explained on vid
Excellent brief definition of Judaism relative to what Jews as humans beings believe and follow.
I was surprised to find this on CZcams. I don't understand why more people are not interested about this matter. I, as an African-American, who grew up among Jewish people, have always been interested. Thanks to the internet I can now see and hear what it is all about. Thank you Rabbi Wein. Blessings on your house.
how right you are..
Interesting
talk about a tough, resilient people; everything that history has thrown against them; yet they've survived. incredible. talk about how many times Jerusalem had changed hands; how many times they were exiled to foreign lands...how many times their temple was destroyed... no wonder they fight tooth and nail to try to keep Israel to themselves. Whew!
@MegaToyy lived.........and killed.
