oml they're so extra
9 years ago, when video was shot on VHS.
Whenever I go on a Marching Southerners binge, this is the one that takes me over the top.
For the day and era it was fun.
The ONE year that I marched - alto sax. Great memories!
Best version of the Star Spangled Banner!
One of the coolest days of my life.
Fantastic. Why is there no crowd across the field?
One of the best ones in the world!, I was so happy to go and listen to them each JSU game!, 1974 - 1978
Wow!! Great job!!🇺🇸❤🇺🇸
I'm there at 3:36 and 4:49. I have great memories of those days!
I really dislike the sound of an amplified front ensemble.
Thank you from the blood of ww2 battle of the bulge. Thank you. Perfect. We only get better.very moving and I feel.it.
Baby ryoz
This is the group that performed "Angel, In the Dark," I think. It got my attention as no other new piece of music lately. Sublime. Could any other group of musicians, even professionals, have performed it more impeccably? Since comments cannot be made on the recording itself, I will just do it here.
Congrats Nic and Kara 👰🏼🤵💍
Nic : will you marry me ? Drum roll please ............ Kara: yes !!!
I wish I was that talented on my marching band bass drum that was awesome though
Always them drum line boys 😂
I wonder what Dr. Bodiford thought about it. (I'm aware it's his channel 😂 )
@jasmine hi
So incredible, this is the 2nd Drum line proposal Ive seen at JSU ... Congratulations Kara and Nic ..... Drum Line is sharp as a tack as always - former percussion, member of the first pit crew 83-86 ... BLOW SOUTHERNERS!!!
@@Iamflamingosrule what are u talking?😂
Cool, I'm in there somewhere!
My best friend was one of the baritones in there. You may have known each other. Renee Warr sound familiar?
@@jeffmalone5557 I remember a "Renee", not sure if it's the same one. I only marched one year, so I didn't get to know a lot of people outside my (trombone) section.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 She had strikingly red hair. I lived an hour away and drove over for all the home games in '82, so I was there also.
Did anyone else hear the trombone playing blatty pedal tones??? It was perfectly on pitch, I almost missed it.
go gamecocks
Whoever recorded this show, Thank you. Not our best, but loved my flag line.
our schools drum tech taught the dude that wrote this cadence he showed me the original music
Are we going to ignore how good that cadence was?
Hi! This is great! Was this shot from the Gladstone Library or from a room?
As we join and leave it remains the same great southerners throughout the years you can hear the same great southerners😎
Holy dang look at that pit
Band geeks rule the world! Awesome video.
Urquidez Family yes, yes we do
Verne!!!
First time I saw this. I was flag captain then, and am so proud of my flags. And Verne is my favorite :)
me too
anyone have sheet music for the cadence or the name?
I remember this. My high school band went to Peach state that year. we played Spirit in our show around that time, it may have been the same year. Great memories! Thanks for sharing.
so good
If this don't give you goose bumps, then something is seriously wrong with you!
Awesome!
Yes, a wonderful guard.
That was amazing
This guy let me play on his snare when he was in high school. He went to school with my aunts.
The BBC announcer, 01/01/2012 London New Years Day Parade, as Southerners led the parade, said, "This is one of the finest marching bands in the world."
Love these southerners! 😍😍😍
Hi Maddie !!!
Great !
Ahh, back when ABC used to some DII games regionally for the early morning slot, especially on slow D1 weekends. They always did one GSC game, covering either JSU-UNA, JSU-Troy, or UNA-Troy, depending on who was having the best year.
We talk so much about “Elsa” that we don't give Straus enough credit for this wonderful interlude. I would never think of taking out that little part of the end of “D/T” and using it this way. Only now, I can't remember the once familiar refrain or melody before the end of “Elsa's Procession;” I have to go back and play it to remember how it goes. Think I will go and listen to them both right now.
Artistry, musicianship, precision, excitement are all combined into a moving work of art called the Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners.
Yep....trumpet line too. Freshman year. Proud of that trumpet line. Seems like the 2 years i marched there was more filming going on but I have only seen a couple videos surface.
I'm so going to do this to my cat
