Brad and Beth's Atlanta Road Trip - August 1999
My word, nothing but nonstop whining...
I just came across your video I thought you was doing the Great American rail trail until you mentioned Missouri and Kansas.
Trumpy?? Trump 2024 USA
How many days did it take to do that?
50 days, with just two days off.
Why ruin a good video with Politics?
Is there many cars to blow you off the road
Great video and inspiring. I live in Arlington, VA and know the trails you shared at the beginning of your trip. Well done, Brad.
Let's hope that the many illegal immigrants resettled or sent there will not destroy and transform it, like every country they have entered.
I love Rwanda.❤ This is where I met my husband 9 years ago. I hope one day i can bring my two boys and share the beauty and the warmth of this country and it's people with them.😍😍
🫡‼️
Uau... astonishing. What an increadible trip.
✅
Any cars?
East coast snobbery.
Welcome to Ethiopia, I hope you get to enjoy My Country’s Culture I wish you a Wonderful time. By the way you have to try our foods. Thanks God bless
So far so good!
@@bradzerivitz Wonderful i am glad to hear that, Thank you for Coming God bless you and may He follow you in journey.
Sorry your trip was so trumpy.....just wait till November 😂😂
Haha, that made me chuckle.
Nice Story. Short video clips with great narration. Sometimes these epic bike trips on CZcams get way to long and detailed. I enjoyed your trip via video thanks.
Thank you!
If you don't want a front rack why not use forkpacks?
I was really considering it, but then saw that another guy riding in Africa got his forkpack knocked off by a motorcyclist near the Kenya/Uganda border. They seem more fragile than a frame bag. Also, I like being able to jump my front wheel over obstacles easily.
I'm not sure there's an ideal setup. I'm just trying things out to see what works. I rode across the United States with just a back rack and panniers.
Nice overview! Why no front rack if the bike is too back heavy? You could add two small panier or dry bags to the front.
I have gone back and forth on the idea of adding a front rack. In the end, I’ve held off because it just seems like one more thing that can break.
What did you film this on? (I'm a videographer and endurance cyclist, still trying to figure out the right camera to take with me on my big rides…)
I used my old Panasonic LX100 and a gorilla pod . It’s a nice camera, but I missed having a flip out screen. I could only set it up in places where I could get around to the back to see the screen. I have tried and tried to find a replacement, but nothing is ideal. The ZV-1 comes close, but I like a viewfinder. The A6700 is good too, but it’s huge in comparison.
@@bradzerivitz I've been considering the Sigma FP L, but it's pricey for a riding camera and the AF is apparently not great for the money… I have Blackmagic cameras, but not the OG Pocket, which would be the only actually small one. Otherwise it's Nikon Z6 ii and Z9, the lenses for which are massive.
@@louisrafaelcom I don't think there's a single ideal camera. The only other one that seemed closed to perfect is the Sony RX100 VII, but I didn't want to spend the money.
Those marijuana plants in ditches are actually hemp plants, courtesy of WWII. Minimal THC but great for rope, etc.
very nice summary with beautiful views - but avoid making political statements in a bike vid. They make you look dumb...
Well I’m glad you liked it, aside from that.
State line
Great video! It would be cool if you did a follow up on what equipment to pack and lessons learned to help others who want to give this a shot.
Thanks! I have a gear breakdown, but it’s currently unlisted on my channel. Here’s the link: czcams.com/video/qcpr_J9Q8hU/video.htmlsi=UvmAXD62mBb2pqWO
Hope to ride up Seattle way in a few years (from Portland). That’s a lot for me - age, health problems, and growing infirmities have a lot to do with it.
Why would you find it necessary to inject politics into another wise interesting video…shame.
This was just my experience of the trip. Sorry if you disagree.
You lost me on this video when you spoke of a place being bad because you thought it was what you called the state " Trumpy". Its funny how a liberal can meet two people and see a couple Sighns and call the hole state Trumpy. Definitely a video creator not for me. Liberal or conservative. Sad!!!
Great video and very informative. I noticed you set up your tent in picnic areas or what looked like city parks. you never had any problems where you set camp?
I got permission from the local police or people in the community before camping in places like that.
Watched right up to the point where you tout stupid liberal politics and bash half the country who are conservatives and support Donald Trump. Later………
I wasn't bashing anyone-I was just sharing my experience of the trip.
Not sure why you felt a need to insert politics into a bike touring video. You have a right to be a woke, lefty if you want, just understand that there are plenty of people with other leanings and don't appreciate being ambushed with left-wing bs.
Have you got any stealth camping tips?
I preferred to talk to people in town or go to the local police station for permission to camp, rather than trying to stealth camp.
Good job!
I might fuck around buy a tent and an electric bike 😂. Guinness world record my shit
super trip
Do you have a gpx of your trip
Boring and negative as shit 👎👎👎
Beautiful place
@jonper369 Thanks for being neutral and a cool dude, God Bless the United States. 😅
Do you have a packing list you could share? You missed the Cowboy trail in Nebraska
Sure, here you go! czcams.com/video/qcpr_J9Q8hU/video.html
Just curious. Wouldn’t it be better to start from the west so you’re not facing the hot setting sun every afternoon? There’s obviously a good reason why you chose westward, but is the afternoon sun an issue?
I don't think the position of the sun was an issue. I decided to go west because I liked the idea of starting from home and doing familiar trails (C&O and GAP) at the beginning of the trip, and saving the exciting Western states for the end. I also didn't want to have to deal with shipping my bike until I was done.
@@bradzerivitz, two very good points.
What an incredible adventure and journey - congrats, Brad! Did you wild camp every day or were there any nights when you stayed at a hotel/motel? Again, congrats!
Thank you! I camped most nights (combination of wild camping and paid campgrounds), stayed at friend's houses along the way and stayed in hotels when I needed a shower or laundry.
Great video, won’t even hold your politics against you.
Thanks! Ha, I appreciate it.
Good video except for the complaining and sharing your political views.
I'll be 53 in January and I've noticed my body slowing down some. Your video was good and up lifting. There's no doubt about it, when one is out on tour there are some days a person does question why they are doing such an activity.
I'm turning 50 in January to ,and planning a tour from Florida to Washington and back next year. I use a motorized bicycle 🚴💨 I did Florida to California and back last year . Need something even more Epic for 50
Really Cool, I am a hiker and have hiked the C and O and the gap, I am planing on hiking to Seattle in 400 mile sections is it possible to get your trip route? I am using the Great American rail trail but only 55% is done and there is no connections on the road travel
Hey Jeff, I basically followed the Eastern Express Route, the Trans Am and a little of the Lewis & Clark route. They're all available through Adventure Cycling (with really detailed maps). This is pretty close to what I did: ridewithgps.com/routes/38423565
Wise call stopping when you got to WA! I did the TransAm in 2022. I jumped onto the L&C route once I got to Idaho. Growing up in Oregon, I didn't feel the need to cover familiar territory, so instead opted for the shortest route to Astoria. It was late July and the weather was hot. After leaving Lewiston, I did a short ride to Pomeroy (motel), 69 miles to Walla Walla (warmshowers), 88 miles to Crow Butte CG, and 78 miles to The Dalles (warmshowers). I had no problems getting water except for that last day. Fortunately, several Good Samaritans stopped to provide aid. I actually think I was in the early stage of heat stroke. The rest of the ride was much more enjoyable than that stretch in WA!!!
Wow, that sounds scary!
Hemp was raised in the earlier part of the 20th century and the fibers were used to make rope. That's why you see the plants seemingly everywhere.
Amazing video!!! Which camera do you use???
Thanks! Panasonic LX100 (the older one, not the new version). I need to upgrade to a camera with a flip out screen for next time.
What bike are you on
All City Space Horse.
What type of bike did you use ?
All City Space Horse. I have a complete gear breakdown here: czcams.com/video/qcpr_J9Q8hU/video.html
HI Brad. I'm Paul Tuke. We crossed paths just north of Cincinnati at the Corwin Peddlar cafe. I'm glad to see your video. Impressive that you did this in 50 days. I took 77 to cover San Diego to Maine. Next year I plan to do Washington State to Washington DC with a slightly different route. Thanks for taking the time to create the video. Very enjoyable!
If you didn't post it, did it really happen ?🤔
