They should not be expanding or creating any new positions that have grant money at some point running out! ​​This right here is the problem. There should be no increase in salaries after what I saw discussed yesterday. Lackawanna County is in debt and their talking about raising taxes for 2025 and they still are expanding goverment with grant money. What happens to those positions when the grant money runs out? Do you get rid of the new positions and increases, probabaly not, just tax the people more money to keep them going. IT"S TIME TO ELIMINATE DEPARTMENTS AND POSITIONS, NOT INCREASE the burden upon the people! Also, why the meetings taking place in the mornings? Shouldn't they be in the evening hours when the majority of people can come and comment more frequently? This seems kind of shifty.

It's time to say NO to NO NEW TAX INCREASES or NEW TAXES! If they ignore us , WE MOVE from Lackwanna County and Scranton. Boon Docks here we come!!!

I like how Bill waited right until the end to say that Taxes will proabably increase for 2025. Yeah, He also mentioned cuts. How about the elimination of certain departments. That might solve a huge problem. Cuts are one thing but elimination of certain departments should be done first before an increase in taxes. It's getting harder and harder for the residents of Lackawanna county and particularly Scranton to afford their homes due to mismanagement and overextending of politictians "good deeds." It's time to get rid of departments that aren't really needed and serve no other purpose but to make people feel good and make the poltiicans say they did something. NO TAX INCREASES! THE PEOPLE ARE BROKE!!!! If the last few years are hard on a multi million dollars money pot how do you think it's been for the people you SERVE?!

The "problem" isn't marajuana, it's SMOKING of ANY kind that not only drives apartment residents crazy, but most times is strictly prohibited and people pay EXTRA to live in smoke free facilities. I appreciate the right to use marajuana, however....not only are there other ways of administrating that drug other than smoking. Citizens are still free to smoke as much as they'd like OUTSIDE of a smoke free facility! The only shocking part is that the landlord actually issued an eviction notice as most times nothing can be done from lack of direct evidence.

Excuse me, but there is no need for an "officer's discretion" re: towing when someone is unlawfully parked in a disabled parking space. The vehicle is either unlawfully parked or it is not. Over the past twenty years, I've learned these seemingly innocuous "exercises of discretion" by the SPD are little more than opportunities to frustrate, harass, bully and/or demean people with disabilities, and yes, probably the general public as well. The only thing truly exercised is vindictiveness. Introducing the reliably spiteful and unpredictable nature of an "officer's discretion" in this ordinance is yet another example of rubberstamping overreach by the SPD. The department loves nothing more than complicating and ultimately messing up the enforcement of black-letter law through the use of their so-called "discretion." For God's sake, leave people with disabilities alone! They are a vulnerable population and deserve protection *from* this department. It is a department whose history is riddled with acts of rogue, undisciplined and criminal "officers". "Discretion" will amount to nothing more than an opportunity to meddle with an otherwise straightforward ordinance, and insodoing allow for more instances of selective enforcement based largely upon capricious, momentary and biased whims.

You have problems with stray animals largely because the city doesn't register cats and rarely enforces ANY animal-related ordinances and state laws. Action is taken only when situations become a crisis. Same with most other issues in Scranton. Nothing is done until a crisis ensues. That's not the way to manage a city. You can still be "nice" but enforce the law. You just need to stop being extra nice to the privileged and "connected." We're ALL EQUAL under the law!!! I am also terribly disappointed with the disability legislation. It's basically a wink and a nod to the able-bodied that "those people with disabilities" don't really matter. How dare you!!? Do you not even realize THE REST OF THE COUNTRY -- EVEN THE OUTBACKS -- comprehend we are NOT second or third-class citizens and are NOT to be treated as such?? We are YOUR EQUALS in all aspects. Just STOP already with your antiquated opinions about our value to society. You may deny harboring any such inequity, but it is shockingly evident through your actions, such as this legislation!! We are your equals. And we have voices, too. Stop treating us as unworthy "lesser-thans." Join the 21st century!! Yes, our lives ARE worth HEFTY FINES against those who refuse to obey laws on the BOOKS FOR DECADES that assist us in daily life. Just ask virtually any other city in n the country!
