The Air Up There - Chesterfield Holmebrook Valley Area
Aerial Footage of the Holme Valleybrook Area of Chesterfield
Chesterfield is a large market town and unparished area in the Borough of Chesterfield in Derbyshire, England, 24 miles (39 km) north of Derby and 11 miles (18 km) south of Sheffield at the confluence of the River Rother and River Hipper. In 2011 the built-up-area subdivision had a population of 88,483,[3] making it Derbyshire's second largest settlement after Derby. Its borough, including Whittington, Brimington and Staveley, had a population of 103,801 in 2011. In 2011 the unparished area had a population of 76,753. It has been traced to a transitory Roman fort of the 1st century CE. The name of the later Anglo-Saxon village comes from the Old English ceaster (Roman fort) and feld (pasture). It has a sizeable street market three days a week. The town sits on an old coalfield, but little visual evidence of mining remains. Its main landmark is the crooked spire of the Church of St Mary and All Saints.

Is That where "Arkwrights" store is at 0:38. Top left corner, Big Long Gray Warehouse?
Just Deepcar
Lovely video. It brought back childhood memories. I remember many years ago, in the 60`s, travelling with our Granddad in the car this way to go to Cleethorpes. I remember going over this bridge.
I remember one hot summer night that some idiots poured a big petrol can into the rezzer and lit it, 50-100ft ball of whoosh..........
T'air up thee-er.
Bloody horrible village
How I wish I could recognise it. It all looks like Abbots Roa to me, and as I was a Telegram Boy I should know!
Could we use some of these footage please, will name you in the credits and share a link to your channel
Hi yes feel free to
@@davebattersby5774 excellent thank you
Market day, in Wide street, Jock charming us all as he offered his wears, once as I watched , he gave me a pencil.
I saw my house....
Good. Thanks for that. Please do it again when the sun is not so low down that it washes out a lot of the video. Secondly there is a middle area with the parish church which you missed out
wow, what a different perspective to see where i live from up in the air! i never realised how big of an estate it actually is. i live in the apartments that were completed in 2021 that aren't in this video. great video.
Very nice
Ha ha, it’s name is “Penis”stone, get it?
I used to live in Maltby. it's nice to see it from a uniqu perspective.
Did you know that king Henry I of England was reportedly born here in Selby?
How I miss Brook Street, I lived at No 6
Although the drone is viewing Cantley Park, it is also showing the Housing Estate which was built in the main in the 1050s, having 2 water towers in the distance. Next to the Park there was once a School called Wilby Carr. Sandal Beat Woodland and the other local Cantley woodlands are shown.
Really good aerial shot of Manvers Lake. I can wholly recommend walking around about 2.5km perimeter of the lake. It has a Boat house, water sports. There is wildlife, swans, ducks and even 4 terrapins.
This is great!
great vid as for the village if your a cyclist ita a survival of the fittest to make the climb from hillsborough to high bradfield & when you get there the views are spectacular
I want to know about the ancient village of Stancil in Tickhall
i live in woodlands
The next one along is wadworth
Some memories there. Early 80s living on king georges road. 1st house after the bungalows. Jumped small wall fell and broke arm. Ages 6. Good times.
Just showed this to a friend who grew up here in 1950’s. Great stuff.
looks like a tiny model village lol
This is the second video I have found of Norton on CZcams, and is my spiritual home, lovely drone footage seeing my old home from the air. Over the years norton has changed so much, but never the less, so many memories, mostly good ones.
What a lovely video. I live 5 miles from Elsecar, nearly all the villages had a pit in the old days, but you wouldn't know by this footage, all is clean, tidy,no muck heaps to be seen now. Nice you got the Newcomen Engine in the view near the end, it is the oldest steam engine in its original position in the world, also the little steam Engine heading towards Cortonwood. Sadly now the railway at Elsecar is not running, but hoping some funding will come from somewhere.
More Time looking at Oughtibridge 😢
I saw mine and both my nannans😂
I've always missed the day opening of this place, so thanks for the awesome vid...👍😁
Thanks. Where i grew up..
So many wind turbines about!
Brilliant thank you
Demolish the fucking lot of it.
brilliant
Good footage - well done 👍🏻
grim
Great footage
That’s Ravefield not bramley
My mentor back in the 80s when doing my apprenticeship used to answer his phone...."Ca***l, OPE" (Orchard Pard Estate). God only knows why he would torture himself like that.
Bandit country!
Was hoping to see my house but you only did south side of village lol
Hi guys, we are a new radio station launching on DAB in Feb, would it possible to use a short clip of your footage? We will of course credit you on the website
Feel free as credit is all we ask
Not Warmsworth. Wrong side of the A1M. This is Balby. Would be nice to have an aerial view of Warmsworth proper....

This is a very small part of the western outskirts of Dronfield, towards Hill Top, Hallowes golf course, and moving towards Boshaw. The old central part, including the parish church, is missing.
