I love that he owns his own ability to be narcissistic as we all do but people with NPD can’t own it so it is kinda a good way of telling if someone is a true narcissist is if they acknowledge they ca be. Or ask themselves am I maybe the narcissist.

Thank you for your wisdom. I'm having a hard time reconciling community which I understood you to be saying is something valuable that has been lost in western civilization with the self centered mindset... as compared to attachment syndrome / unhealthy codependence... and on the other hand, authenticity which suggests each of us having a mind of our own which seems self interested. How do we be our authentic selves in the context of working towards being community minded? It seems like they are counter to each other. I'm sure compassion is a big part of it... but interested in insights that are not occurring to me.

I can deeply relate to feeling lost halfway through life, and I'm only in my 30s. As cliche as it sounds we have to be the change we want to see. I'm about to take my children out of public school and just play Gabor Mate, Noam Chomsky, Angela Davis and Democracy Now podcasts lol. All jokes aside , I am so grateful for people like Gabor. I love Chuck Girard & all of his Christian music?!!

I first heard this song about 1976 or so and I didn't really understand the words or meanings. At least, not until my wife and I left the ministry in 1990. We were made fun of by other pastors in our church and those who knew us in other communities. I even had an older pastor tell me to my face that I surely lost my salvation for stepping out. No one knew or even cared why we left, even if we told them they still would have ridiculed us for our decision.
