Eric Goldberg's Advice for Young Animators
Still something young and springy in this voice and eyes. I think great animators like Goldberg are still connected to the source of life. By observing it, enjoying it and letting it flow through them. The bringing to life of ideas, characters and movement.
Not a real green car, that's cruel! :D
Great interview! 😊👍
"Eric Goldberg" ... the most animator sounding name ever 😉
the guy laughing reminds me of patrick in that spongebob episode where he laughs at everything spongebob says
🙈🙉🙊
what an amazing talk. I love animation, but don't know much about the legends who work/worked in the medium. but damn this guy is good. great advice
People : you will never go that better. Me : true :( This guy : oh yeah?
Awesome Advice.
I love how this comment section is full of Animators (myself included)
Hey, I have a question. I don´t have Canadian friends, so I'll ask here so anyone of you can answer: What's the equivalent for a master's degree in Canada. I can't find masters but a lof of Diplomas, advanced diplomas and certificates. What are those? and which one is the equivalent to a master's degree.
I told my Dad I wanted to be an artist. He laughed at me and said, "Draw me a beer."
Im training to paper animate and export it on my computer
Thanks for the content !! 🔥
Little did he know that a global pandemic was all it took for people to realize just how true his statement about working on a film from home and it being so easy nowadays.
I always wonder if animators put in Easter eggs like drawing themselves hidden in the background of a scene.
Do not do animation in Japan they pay per drawing and not per hour

Bonjour
Why he don’t like Superman
Nice
He looks like Mr. Smee mixed with Doc from Snow White.
Thaaanks Internet, i can see a legend💖✨

This is absolute solid gold.
Very nice !
Is this a joke? Real paint on glass animation by people who can draw/paint and have something to say can be seen on the web, look up Alexandre Petrov’s - The Making Of “The Old Man & the Sea” and Martine Chartrand’s “Black Soul”.
Jean, this is a tutorial for explaining the basics of the technique for beginners and Patrick did an excellent job of explaining them. And for the record, Patrick is a talented artist and has exceptional skill at his techniques - don't take my word for it though - refer to his international accolades and screenings. "The Old Man & the Sea" and "Black Soul" are wonderful films, but using them as examples may be a bit intimidating - because how could you do it properly without another 10 tutorials on brush work, colour, tone, and so on? Anyone that tried a tutorial like that would likely be disappointed attempting to replicate those results because it would be too difficult to explain to an artist that didn't have a decade or more of experience. So no, this is not a joke, just an efficient video for freely sharing information to other artists and interested parties. By looking at your work, I expect you'd actually probably get along really well with Patrick, say hi to him if you see him at a film festival when they start back up.
You’re being extremely rude Jean. Regardless of if this was Patrick’s best work, someone’s effort to animate even for something simple is not a joke. Do you go around asking everyone who makes art that isn’t up to your standard if they’re joking? There is no “real” paint on glass just as there is no “real” art. And as the poster said, this is a tutorial.
Legend in animation
Thanks! I think I'll "just go"!
I'm 20 , currently a student in Romania , and my dream is to become a professional animator . Animation is a very unwalked ,unexplored teritory in my country ,but I have hope that I can work with people abroad who share the same passion as me.
Same here
Ya I'm trying to make my own series typically a object show like bfdi don't judge, and what i learned is that you won't get it perfect the first sketch but if you keep going and trying you'll make a great breakthrough
Eric Goldberg has motivated me the best till now and the way he motivated was just awesome and now I can't wait to walk in my path to become a famous animator. Thanks Eric Goldberg 😊
Patrick and I were roommates back at York U! What an extraordinary gentleman he was and continues to be. GO, PATRICK, GO!!!!
Love this, Robert is amazing and I would love to work with him one day!
That's alot of helpful to me.Thank you.Now I'm 13 and I started intrested in animation at 8.Now I practise everything about drawing and animation to become an animator.I wish I would work for disney when I grow up.And I really want to know how can I be an animator for disney.☺
I think the internal response of “oh yeah?” When faced with people denying you is where all true greatness comes from. Determination with a pinch of saltiness, maybe a dash of spite, a “watch me” “fuck it” attitude.
I have to go to Antarctica! I need to find the animation penguins!!
This guy reminds me of bob ross, letting things happen and go with the flow with oil on glass can be so introspective and also joyful. Remaining a healthy posture seems to be tricky tho ;) i should put my light table on a paintingtableau or something. Thanks also for the q-tip advice! Cheers
Since he can use oil on glass then I can use oil on laser foil and/ or holographic foil. They both are non absorbent surfaces. However I prefer just oil pastels to oil paint.
He is so cute and looks like Don Carlton from Monster University .
I would love to work with penguins honestly
What i like about Artists is they are always supportive and inspiring.I've always wanted to become one and now,i'm on my way to be one.(with lots of difficulties,of course) But I know that someday all of this hard work will be paid off.And that we all will be okay.Just follow your dreams. You may feel like losing yourself sometimes but don't u ever doubt yourself for following them.Cause i am pretty sure that they know the way.❤❤❤
This really made me think about how many times in the past I have wanted to quit art but NEVER did because art is what truly gives me life
Animators are masters of visual art.
Awesomeee
Dude she cute ngl
i am a 13 year old trying to learn and practicing everything about art and animation before going to college, when i grow up i wanted to make my own company which is quite hard but i still have hopes for it. I wanted to revive 2d animation and share all my thoughts and teachings to the world one day and hearing this inspired me even more. i’m trying traditional animation for now and i hope for anyone else who share the same dream accomplished it too :D
same dream
Same here
same
Keep it going!
Me too!
Only 883 views WTF??!
Only 883 views?! WTF??!! He is a genius
The only reason to give up is you find out animation is not your passion anymore. No other reasons around.
LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Amazing!!
and you can make Russian subtitles please ( sorry not very know English , but really want literally to understand the content of the video )
