My first real unicycle!(first one was a cheap plastic one as a kid czcams.com/users/postUgkx4e2fa6x27dF7shCelntq0ZIKt4N0jELI I never learned to ride)So, this is a true learner, and for a C note, exactly what was needed. After a few weeks, I'm able to easily ride up and down the street. The Good: Solid frame. Has absorbed numerous spills through learning and still solid. Look - great looks, after 6 weeks of bashing Weight - it's really all tire, but as I fall I can easily grab the seat so it doesn't slam the ground. Size - Very adjustable. I'm 6', 33" inseam. I put it mostly up, but could go a bit higher if I needed to. The Bad: Not sure if it's out of the norm, but seat got scraped up quickly. Pedals - they are a bit uncomfortable and I can't get the right feel on my feet. But, they are solid and haven't been damaged at all as I've seen in reviews on other cycle's.- To address one comment about the seat connection not straight. Huh? Seat is on a round pole, you just turn it and it's straight. Either of the bad I expected to replace once I improved. I'd recommend to anyone else in the learning phase.

You’ve encouraged me to dust off my uni and learn to ride the darn thing.
Good luck and enjoy!
Hi at a glance I suspect/hope the fox files you have shared link up with the sustrans lejog traffic free route guide book ?.Or as safe and traffic free as it can be.

Keep them coming!!!
Great to see that ridding isn’t just a young(er) persons sport!
Wow Hans. Great skills, so inspirational at your age. Music is unbearable though.
Great fun, well done Hans! :)
Thank you! It was so much fun and inspired me to the Camino on 1wheel the following year: czcams.com/video/nEr2RXOaFoQ/video.html My Scottish friend John composed the song to the video.
Thanks! I have been trying by my self, with no real progress, this will help a ton!
Good luck and stay patient. Trying to break down the needed skills usually helps a lot.
An alternative is to "not lean" so much. Start from an idle like Hans does, but then "apply more pedal pressure" in both the down pedal and the "pulling" pedal. You should not be "sitting" with all your weight on the saddle. Keep weight on your pedals. Very similar to when you ride forwards, slowly on grass using "pedal weight" for balance.
@@trexinvert Yeah ok
@@trexinvert true - very good advice!
@@HansHowald Thank you Hans. Please make more videos. Your age and ability is inspiring.
super, especially with the unicycle, which does not run by itself downhill!
Thank you Klemens.

hi
The two people that disliked this, like really. Look at the hard work he put into this, to give us a great and informative video. Dude great job.
Fantastique !!!!!!

Brilliant. Do you have an itinerary as I would love to do it. Of course I'll pay as I'm sure many people would as this took a lot of planning. Well done.
Barry, I can send you the GPX files (tracks) that I used for planning. Please email me on hans.howald@gmail.com
How big is the wheel? Is it 36"?
Yes korrekt, it‘s a 36“ wheel
Wonderful! As someone who has just learned to unicycle, I've been watching as many unicycle videos as possible but most seem to be people doing "extreme" stuff so this is a welcome and refreshing change.
Iain Petrie, thank you! I have produced a series of travel videos in recent years: czcams.com/video/nEr2RXOaFoQ/video.html Enjoy!
Great , I enjoy watching your unicycle touring videos.
So... you should be able to IDLE before riding backward? Or do the two skills kind of go hand in hand?
The skills for idling and riding backward go hand in hand. Many people learn riding backward right after riding forward with idling later. I learnt to idle easily but struggled learning to ride backward. The earlier you start acquiring these skill set, the easier it is. Good luck!
👍
Eines der tollsten Abenteuer/Reise/Radvideos! Tolle Bilder und wunderschöne Musik, sagenhaft. Tausend Dank dafür!
Dieses Kompliment freut mich natürlich sehr - danke!
Well done Hans and what an excellent video and song. From a fellow Cyclist Le Jogger in July 2018.
Thank you Pete, all credit for the song goes to my friend John Boyd in Scotland.
Pure Lebensfreude..... Bleiben Sie gesund
Danke, und ebenso!
Haha, DU BIST COOL!! In welchem Alter hast du gelernt 1-Rad zu fahren?!
Danke dir.
Very inspiring! That triggers my desire of touring Switzerland right after the lockdown.
Planned a Japan trip with my unicycle but due to the Covid-19 situation, I am enjoying day trips from home.
Hans, as always a wonderful video of your unicycle trip. You are an inspiration to all of us "old people" who continue to exercise and be young of mind. Thank you! Alan
Alan, very kind of you. Greetings Hans
I realize that you have been wearing a mask while touring Lucerne. Was it only in Lucerne and why? Is it mandatory to wear a mask during this Covid-19 period in Switzerland? Once again, an amazing travel video.
Good observation. I was wearing my face mask at Lucerne because I visited a shop at the railway station to get some food and drinks. Unfortunately and different to other European countries, it is only recommended (not mandatory) to wear a mask in public transportation (bus, railway) and while shopping throughout Switzerland. I am clearly of the opinion that people should always wear masks in bespoke situations to protect others and themselves.
Awesome !
thank you bro

Daammm ! This is absolutely amazing ! It cheers me up so much when I see retired people going for exciting and crazy project ! I wish I'll be going for such adventure in my 70s. I am currently preparing a trip from Estonia to probably France on a uni. And someone recommend me your page on facebook. Your set up look really cool, and I am sure you would have a lot of very valuable knowledge to help me preparing my trip. If you are willing to have a chat you can email me at : booking@sypocircus.com Keep rocking Hans !
