    We were just there a couple weeks ago and my son decided to spend 3 of our 5 days in Epcot because of cosmic rewind. It was peaceful there and I enjoyed the bizarre mood music but the whole park just seemed so insanely hot that we kept leaving to cool off and coming back. Is it just me or is there not a lot of shade in Epcot?

    Moana Journey of Water was also part of the reimagining. I love Disney and appreciate what they have done. I think that a big part of the problem is that Disney hypes things up so much and then they don't fully deliver. I would rather they under hype and over deliver. They have a history of making these big announcements and then they never happen. Remember the theater they announced for Magic Kingdom...never happened. If they announce something they need to commit to bringing it to fruition.

    Im liking the park vibes, but the lack of overhead cover is unforgivable. It's difficult to make a judgement on communicore hall without seeing what they will actually accomplish with the space. The large planter in the center is.....uhhhh something? Somebody had to know.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 6 hodinami

      The lack of overhead cover. . . . it's the type of thing that you get when people who have never been to a theme park, let alone one in Florida, make decisions. Of course, I can't say I'm surprised 'cause we see decisions like this being made at the parks all the time, but that's a rant for another day. The planter. I'd love to think that someone would have known/noticed, but these are the same people who were like "8 umbrellas for an entire outdoor venue is enough shade" so. . . .

    I think that we will find that Communcore Hall will be used for demonstration kitchens during the festivals. Of course they will charge an arm and two legs for tickets with no spectators.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 6 hodinami

      Disney announced, from the beginning, that CommuniCore Hall would be a flex space with offerings [entertainment, exhibits, cooking demonstrations, etc.] that would rotate out with the festivals. I'm sure they'll also have it available for private events, just like other spaces throughout the resort. I don't think we can expect for the demonstrations or exhibits to be separately ticketed though.

    Tons of up and downs for me. For example, Pro: guardian’s is easily one of the best attractions Disney has ever built at any park. Con: budget cutting spaceship earth refurb is a massive let down. Pro: the lighting they put on spaceship earth is amazing and doing shows with the lights is almost an attraction on its own. Con: scraping the “play pavilion” and leaving it basically abandon is a massive head scratcher and let down. So basically there is a ton I love and a ton I’m still scratching my head about but hopefully with some new leadership at the company and finally getting the “Covid era” projects out of the way they can return to form

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 5 hodinami

      I get exactly what you're saying! There were certainly a lot of things that happened in this chapter and I think that they had a lot of work to do in order to get themselves out of the hole they were standing in. . . . which takes a lot more time than some people might realize. Now that things are being buttoned up, I'd imagine that they are going to work on shuffling things around so that they can come out on top. . . .hopefully. 😄

    The re-imagening is underwelming in every way. The best part is a Cosmic rewind and you cant even ride it without a virtual queue. I had great memories in inoventions buildings as a kid, how is that suppose to happen in a empty grey box with chairs. There are places to sit now so I guess it was all worth it.

  • @justinbaker2883
    @justinbaker2883 Před 14 hodinami

    It was a reimaginig that was planned for the 50th and epcot 40th. Having walls all over for both of those celebrations was a bit of a problem. Especially when universal seems to be able to build 3x faster than disney. Also think how disney markets these projects is one non-MK park gets all of its attention and dollars to add and fix it up and then it shifts its attention to the next non-MK park. This makes each of these revamps more dire than they need to be since once disney has claimed they are complete you wont see anything significant at that park for a decade. Epcot is beloved and people tend to be very defensive of it, and it ended up with a mid revamp. It feels like Disney is doing more updates to all of its parks more frequently however so i think that old fear is mostly false, but psychologically its hard to remap your brain when it comes to disney and change. Great vid. Epcots fine. I think disney would be smart to under promise and over deliver than whatever they are doing now. Disney fans already hype things up too much, disney doesn't have to add to that crazy.

  • @barbarac3879

    The addition of the Remy and Guardians is a definite highlight, I love those rides and I go to Epcot more than I would had they not added them. However, like you I was disappointed that Mary Poppins and the overhaul of Spaceship Earth were not done. And maybe I am alone here, but the loss of the Fountain of Nations is one I can't shake - it changes the feel of the entire park for me.

    We just booked an Orlando trip and we decided to stay at Universal Sapphire Falls because the room alone was £1000 cheaper than the French Quarter. The only resorts cheaper would have been 2-3 of the value ones, which is a huge step down from Sapphire Falls. We are DINKs so we have a little bit of disposable income, so us being priced out of the Disney resorts is very telling. Disney's pricing right now is just insane. If we as DINKs are priced out how the heck are couples with kids supposed to stay there? Disney's issue right now and that they are decreasing perks, performances, etc...all while raising the prices to insane levels. I have no real feelings about Epcot either way. I can see it from your point of view, but what they delivered wasn't even close to what they promised. Instead of a multi-story statement structure the built a rectangular box. I actually like the outside of it, but the inside just looks so sad and kind of sterile, like something out of Logan's Run, but with the added feature of cheap portable tables and chairs. They could have at least made them colorful, because that would have been awesome. Like make the tables and chairs match the colours on the ceiling. I love your videos, keep on keeping on.

    • @Huntbeck33
      @Huntbeck33 Před 13 hodinami

      I get where you’re coming from and you make valid points but anytime someone compares the pricing of Disney to Universal they somewhat lose me. The bottom line is they are both extremely expensive. I went to universal this year and a 2 park 1 day ticket cost me nearly 300 dollars and lines were so long I waited nearly 3 hours for hagrids. Disney has things universal doesn’t and universal has offers that disney doesn’t ether. Everyone’s different tho so I get that you’d prefer to stay at a higher end resort than a value. But for me sometimes a value is all family’s need as they don’t spend a whole bunch of time at the resort. Just my take tho

  • @chrisfoxwell4128
    @chrisfoxwell4128 Před 14 hodinami

    It's difficult to hear Disney's tagline "reimagining" over and over and then take seriously the idea that putting in some tables and a hula hoop station is what it was supposed to be. And compounding that fact, almost everything they did do looks like it came from Ikea. People might be "upset" or more disappointed because they pay $180 a ticket and have appropriate sized expectations. Then what is delivered with the fanfare is little more than basic maintenance. If there was any time to get work done, it was when there was no one in the park.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 5 hodinami

      Honestly. . . . it's hard to hear ANY of Disney's taglines nowadays and taken them seriously. They've watered down the meaning of everything from the "Disney Difference" to "Reimagining" so far that it barely means a fraction of what it used to. That said, delivery and presentation is everything and Disney did not do a good job with this one. What they SHOULD have done was waited to unveil these festival spaces [like the flex space with the lawn games and CommuniCore Hall] until. . . a festival! <--- wild idea, I know. That way people would see the potential right out the gate. Unfortunately poor planning and people who can't see the big picture seemed to drop the ball on that one. Now, to recover, they REALLY have to blow guests away with whatever ends up in that space. . . and I'm not sure they will pull that off. We'll see though.

  • @ChilliTink
    @ChilliTink Před 14 hodinami

    I do like most of the re-imagined areas of EPCOT. And I do think that Covid played a big part of how everything ultimately turned out. But I also think Disney should do a better job of regular updates on existing rides and park infrastructure, while at the same time tackling additions to the parks on a regular basis instead of taking on 1/3 of the area of the park. Even for Disney that is a huge task while trying to accommodate daily park guests, and I think it becomes a push to get things finished and open too fast which has affected the final product. I go back to a time before the Michael Eisner and Frank Wells era when the company was in a bad 'lull' and it took new blood to revitalize everything from Disney animation to it's theme parks. I think some parts of EPCOT were neglected for so long, and when they went to do something they said was going to look super amazing, it was so much that was taking so long, they ended up having to rush through it and unfortunately the final product didn't quite reach the expectations. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the new spaces, just surprised at the asthetics or lack thereof. And some of those large 'sail' type fabric shade makers would be nice in the large open air spaces. Just my opinion.

    • @Onekevmoore
      @Onekevmoore Před 9 hodinami

      Agreed! The cost to Disney Parks as a result of the pandemic is significant. Recouping and setting a new path for EPCOT's great big beautiful tomorrow will undoubtedly take some time. Messaging to investors and community and the state of things could stand some improvement. This level of transparency is a missing key to success. I am still optimistic that progress will come.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 5 hodinami

      I could not agree more! One of the biggest problems with Disney as a whole, at least in my opinion and based on my observations, is that they let things get SO BAD that they can't really recover without a MAJOR overhaul. . . which is necessary from time to time, but you gotta do little maintenance regularly to ensure it never gets to that point. When it comes to the asthetic of the park, or lack there of, I think that's because there is no vision for what the park actually is. Is it the future? Is it a festival center? Is it modeled after the original vision of what EPCOT was supposed to be? None of the powers that be seem to know and so we get the semi-futuristic [maybe] asthetic that is modeled after Spaceship Earth itself. At least that's what I think is going on. 🤷‍♀️ The sails would have been a GREAT choice! In fact, when Russ and I were watching back my videos of the space that's the first thing we both thought of. . . "why didn't they add the sails for shade".

  • @RoastBeefSandwich
    @RoastBeefSandwich Před 14 hodinami

    I think the disappointment that people are feeling is not due to what we got so much as it is what was promised but we didn't get.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 10 hodinami

      . . . and I can't argue with that disappointment one bit! There are a LOT of things that were promised and weren't delivered on with the "reimagining". I'm just as disappointed as the next person that they didn't happen PLUS we didn't even get a "maybe later" from Disney. What I've been hearing a lot of though, which very well may be thanks to what the algorithm is sending me coupled with scuttlebutt from opening day 😅, centers around things like the flex spaces being underwhelming. Especially coming from some of the people who are saying these things, who have been discussing the project since the beginning, it seems a little silly [to me at least] to look at a room well advertised as a festival space and be underwhelmed during an off season. 🤷‍♀️ I do agree though! I think that most of the average guests who are expressing disappointment are probably doing so 'cause of what was lost in this project. . .

    This is how I look at it, will any of the changes make people think man I HAVE to go to Epcot to check out the new changes, the answer is no, I think the answer is someone may go to Epcot on there vacation but not for the new changes specifically

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 10 hodinami

      I agree. . . at least for the most part. I think that there were likely some people out there that planned EPCOT into their vacation because of Remi's or Cosmic Rewind. . . especially at the beginning, but now that it's "done"? None of what they opened is a draw as much as it is an enhancement to what already exists in the park; mainly the festivals.

      There were a few people wandering through, but not too many. That the magic of being places at the right time so that you have the place to yourself. . . . at least for the most part. ☺️ Makes filming things like this much more ideal. It's been open for a little bit, but it's still relatively new. . . so people may not be aware of it.

    It's my understanding that the Disney buses and the non-Disney buses have stops at different locations for park gates. How much of a difference does this make? No matter what I search I cannot find an answer for this!

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před dnem

      Great questions! Yes, you understand correctly. If you're taking non-Disney bus transportation to the theme parks, you will NOT be dropped at the same place that Disney buses get dropped off. The exact drop off location will vary depending on the park you're visiting and the location your hotel/resort is offering to take you to [not all courtesy shuttles will take guests to all 4 parks, some only drop off at one park and expect you to navigate to where you want to go from there. You can learn more about that HERE: czcams.com/video/wO1QIcm2xHI/video.html ] Assuming that wherever you're staying will take you to each of the 4 theme parks though, because some do, the biggest difference you'll encounter is the distance between wherever you're being dropped off and the main gate for whatever park you're going to. Non-Disney transportation gets dropped off in separate areas which at best can be in the back of the bus terminal, but at worse can be in the parking lot. Disney's Magic Kingdom is a great example of this. You'll be dropped at the TTC where you'll then have to take additional transportation to get the park, which can take quite some time. You can learn more about that HERE: czcams.com/video/I9A1XND_wco/video.htmlsi=za3MozJG_49UQlwS&t=203 Sometimes you may also find that hotels/resorts will drop you off at the TTC to get to EPCOT, which requires you to take the monorail over. . . which isn't a big deal, but is also an extra step that you need to be aware of. In a nutshell, taking non-Disney transportation options [to include rideshares, to which all of this also applies] to the parks is going to mean a little extra work on your behalf, but it's still do-able. Just be prepared ahead of time and plan accordingly. Also, let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to answer them for you. 😄

    I’ve been saying the same thing ever since they announced this change. I’m an adult with autism and several other disabilities. At Disney I would have to use DAS, but I went to universal a month ago and I just used express unlimited. I applied for the AAP at universal through IBCCES and got approved, but I didn’t activate it because express is just better and I don’t have to have a confrontation with the employees at the park. Disney really needs to make the paid system better than the disability accommodation, and then raise the price. I would happily just pay, but Genie plus doesn’t work so it won’t allow me to fully experience the park, you just can’t get all the rides on genie plus that you could realistically do otherwise, some parks have multiple rides on genie plus sell out in minutes and you can only get one at a time. They should make the paid system better so people like me who are willing to pay for it will just do that, use a system like IBCCES so they have a third party group of medical professionals verifying whether people really need the accommodation, so people who can’t afford the paid system but truly need the accommodations can get it, and having the disability accommodation being worse than the paid option will de incentivize a lot of people from exaggerating or lying to get das when they don’t need it.

    2:05 Was initial free transportation to the resorts a casualty of COVID? Are Uber and Lyft the best options to get from the airport to a resort?

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals Před 2 dny

      Not really. For years WDW guests were complaining about the free transportation option [called Magical Express] and said that rideshares were a better option 'cause you could get where you were going faster than Magical Express. So while Covid might have been a convenient time, Magical Express was on its way out anyway. [This is part of a bigger conversation about how Disney DOES actually listen to what guests want, but guests don't always know what they want. . . . . but we will open that can of worms some other day.] It depends on the size of your party and your needs. Rideshares are alright if you've got a small group, but have their downsides [like questionable driving and high price]. Mears Connect is a great option, especially if you're new down with rideshares and wait a more laid back experience. Our family uses Mears Connect often. There are some other options out there too.

    Yeah, this is the issue I have with bus only resorts. My family has only ever stayed at The Dolphin. Fighting early AM for the 1st bus is too stressful. One of the kids is going to forget to go the bathroom or the quick breakfast line wasn't quick enough! With the Swan / Dolphin you have every option except the Disney bus over to AK. But you can go to the front of Epcot or HS and catch a bus from there or just rideshare.

    I love Disney transportation, never had a bad experience. Love the AC, usually I fall asleep on the way back. Just of note, from a resort you can not take a bus to another resort. For example, dinner reservations at Jambo and staying at Old Key West. Take a bus to Animal kingdom and then to Jambo. I have always told my friends, a great Disney trip is a well thought out plan!

      One of the things we absolutely love about staying at WDW Resort Hotels is the transportation. Regardless whether it's the Monorail, Skyliner, Bus or whatever else. . . the fact that we can just get where we're going without having to think too much about it is exactly my definition of a vacation! Absolutely! Great point and one I should have taken the time to mention. Yes, if you're trying to get from Resort to Resort you'll need to do that by going to a park or use an alternate mode of transportation! 😄

    Nice video! Transportation was the whole reason me and my wife started going to Disney world just because we first went (over 10 years ago now) when we were 20 years old and couldn’t rent a car before age 25 I believe. Honestly imo the skyliner is the best form of transportation on property. Hardly ever a line to get on and I don’t have to fold up my stroller 😂 that’s just what works for me. All the transportation is great tho and really hope magical express returns one day 😢

      THANKS! Transportation has always been a big thing for our family as well and, at least in our opinion, is one of the MAJOR perks of staying at a WDW Resort Hotel. I'll tell you what. . . I have such a love/hate relationship with the Skyliner it's not even funny! 😂 I agree, it's so easy to board [with a stroller or ECV] and being that it's constantly moving the line tends to be minimal. . . . but when it stops for long stretches. 🤢 I struggle.
