This is a beautiful song… but you’d better know EXACTLY what you’re saying when you sing it. “… willing to make ANY sacrifice… “ “… no price too high… any struggle… I’m willing to go through…” These words have haunted me for years. Thirteen years ago, my husband and I lost two of our girls to false accusations of abuse - lies that my own sister told about my husband - shortly after I started performing this song. I thought I meant it. I now know what it means … and I’ve tried to walk away from God several times over these last 13 years, because I wasn’t as grounded in my faith as I thought I was. I still struggle. It’s a daily thing… in argue with God, I cry, I get angry and scream at Him… yet He’s big enough that He can handle my emotional outbursts, and calms me down. We are STILL living with the consequences and ramifications of my sister’s lies, while she and her husband enjoy a successful life. She constantly skirts all attempts for anyone to bring her to accountability. Not just for our situations (which are multiple - there are other things has she and her husband have done to us), but for things she has done to others as well. It’s hard to realize our lives may be worth nothing here in this life… and I often wonder if our simple prayers early in our married life are the reason we suffer. I mean… God stands by His word… and He expects us to do the same. I’m just not sure we understood exactly what we were signing up for. It’s not a choice to be made lightly… there definitely is a piece to be paid.
