Hard not to put on the kilograms living amongst so much cheap, tasty food in Thailand. It is cheap because the shops use the cheapest frying oil, probably palm seed oil. Sugar is added to nearly everything, but at least it is cane sugar. In 'tourist' mode here, we gobble up all kinds of food. But as a 'long-term' resident we should probably think of the health consequences more seriously.

Yeah, Jerry, you see gold shops. That is where free Chinese have put their savings and they can even wear it. Did you notice the bid and ask price of it? Was 40400/40500 the percentage spread for 24K jewelery or for solid 24k? What is the unit of weight? Gram?

Tried the place last year when I visited BKK in November. Probably the best Baklava that I've ever tasted in Asia (haven't been to Turkey or Lebanon, and therefore can't comment or compare). The only place that comes close to the food of this place is Tarbush in Kuala Lumpur.
