Most comments here are mislead. The Atomic Bomb killed a lot of people, abut 130 thousand. However firearms, explosives, knives and anything else we can get our hands on have killed MILLIONS of people. I don't see the UN halting the creation of arms anywhere. Yet those arms are what do the most damage. In Great Britain guns are illegal to own, however, it has not stopped the Brits from knifing each other to death. The Atomic bomb saved so many lives, not just in ending WW2, but afterwards as well. There was a sharp decline of deaths after WW2 till the end of the century due mostly of fear of a Nuclear War. The person responsible for the deaths of Japan in retrospect can be attributed to the prideful Emperor Hirohito. He was warned before the bomb was dropped, but ignored it, and even then Japan's defeat was near. Even after the first bomb was dropped he didn't surrender. It took the deaths of thousands in Nagasaki to finally get through to his pride and he surrendered. He said he would fight to the last man, but instead he brought shame and death upon the Japanese people.

I just dont understand why they didn't drop the bombs on Germans. Could someone please explain? Its not like they couldn't be hit honestly. Please someone explain. I mean the Japanese were bad because of pearl harbor, is that really it!?!? It doesnt make sense. I guess Americans lives are more valuable? Fucking dumb if thats why they did that.
