Hi Graham. Just brewed this one. Do you have your gravity readings. It was supposed to be 4.5%. But my OG was 1.041 which is too low. FG was 1.012 about right. This only gives 3.6%. Thanks.

@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 yes it down to 1.013 which is about right for a stout. Plus that’s what it says on the instructions. I think the OG should be over 1.050. Seems low.

Have had many a pint of Guinness in Ireland but not made a stout yet , usually make bitter or IPA. I've got an old book by Dave Line with a guinness recipe in it but I think it's more of a traditional bottled Guinness and not a draught beer. That pint you brewed looks awesome though, where can we find the recipe please

@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 bit of an update here, Graham. I brewed this and the lactic acid is really a game changer - think I saw you comment saying you didn't add it. If you're doing it again I would recommend it - it was recommended 3-4ml per full corney keg. I used 3.5ml, would maybe do 3ml next time. I got the supplies and syringe and lactic acid from Get Er Brewed. £6 next day delivery across Ireland.

They also do a custom grain kit where you can pre save a custom grain amount of what you need and get the exact amounts sent to you. Going g to use some parts the counter top and mirrors, tap but the shape and style will be different. Going to make panel’s around d the bar like a traditional Irish pub big very nice hopefully

Hi Graham, I've just brewed this and it seems to have come out lighter than I was expecting in the trial jar. Is it definitely 40g of Carafa Special III and not more??

FYI Kegged this on today, tried another 40g of Carafa III to darken up the beer, but had to do another 100g on top of this to get closer to the right colour, so ended up using 180g in total. Don't know if I'm missing something in my original mash process, but keen to condition this and give it a try now 🍺

Hi mate, did you force carbonate with the nitro mix or just c02 and at what pressure for how long? My stouts always seem to be over carbed!

I only force carbonate with nitro co2 fix . Never put straight co2 near it . What is your method?
