    Thoughts on a engine that intermittently struggles to hot start, and during hot start procedure drips fuel out of the overboard port? Ignition side is good.

    I had a Bendix PS5 pressure carb on a 150 HP Lycoming in a home built Pitts S1. It worked great for full inverted flight. Fortunately, the PS5 never required any repairs during my ownership of the Pitts. This was around 1974 - 1976. I'm thinking the PS5 was the best inverted fuel control device that preceded fuel injection systems of today. Perhaps someone more familiar with the history of the evolution of inverted fuel system technology could comment.

    Thanks for the video! I overhauled my carb myself years ago. That was a challenge to get the float height set properly! Something of an adventure for sure. 500 hours of flying later and it's only needed a little tweak on the idle metering. But I sure wish I had your video prior to undertaking it! Keep up the great work!

    Great video! I have a question. I own a J3 with Cont A65 with a Stromberg NA-S3A1 with no mixture control. I have always heard that this carb has an “automatic altitud compensation system” that leans the mixture, is that right? You didnt mention that and I cant find that Information anywhere. Thank you!

    Really great video! I'm studying for Powerplant Written Exam. There's a question:" An aircraft engine equipped with a pressure-type carburetor is started with the...?" Answer: "primer while the mixture control is positioned at IDLE-CUTOFF position." Do you know *why* this is the starting procedure for a pressure carburetor? Why not have the mixture control set to lean or rich? I'm reading that once the engine starts you immediately move the mixture out of the CUTOFF position. But why is it necessary/desirable to start the engines in the IDLE-CUTOFF position? And it seems like with it in the IDLE CUTOFF position little to no fuel would be available for starting. I don't get it! Thanks for the great video.

    Great video. I've been having issues with my Aeronca Chief on takeoff. I had a slight engine failure on takeoff, but she sputtered back up and I was able to bring it back to the field. I replaced the wires and plugs and broke into the carb and gave it a good cleaning. I didn't measure the float but did think that the level might be a little high. I flew it the other day and it ran great while I had another instructor up with me. I let him out for another lesson and of course while by myself, she bogged down a little bit (as if too rich) while on climbout. It didn't do it nearly as bad, and continued to run, but I would like to fix this issue before taking it back up. I have a manual on order, but do you know the measurement for the float and where I would take the measurement to level the fuel just below the discharge nozzle? Thanks so much. This video helped me understand the operation of this carburetor so much better.

    Apologies if this question is daft, but what is the purpose of the air bleed between A and B?

    • @aviationmaintenanceacademy
      @aviationmaintenanceacademy Před 4 měsíci

      You need air movement through the impact tube into Chamber A or the AMC will not work. The bleed keeps the air moving.

    • @mattgbarr
      @mattgbarr Před 4 měsíci

      @aviationmaintenanceacademy thanks for the response! Another potentially silly question if that is okay? Is the air metering force regulated by both the impact tube and the venturi so that the pressure carb is getting information on both mass air flow and inlet pressure?

    Hello, I was analyzing your CZcams channel. your you tube SEO score is very low It should be increased. and subscribers ,views , like, comments is very low according to your channel age. this is why your you tube growth is very low and your channel setup is also having many problems. If you can solve this problems your channel will grow and be famous very quickly. And in this matter I can help you in every way if you want.

    Hello sir, I hope you are well, I saw your CZcams channel and understood that Very nice video on your channel, and I really enjoyed it. One thing I noticed is that according to your channel, your channel videos are not watched and subscribed. You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will go viral. If your channel is a little optimized and the videos are SEO, your channel will rank very fast and grow. And monetization of your channel will start. Do you want to customize? Hope you take your valuable time to read the comments. I am waiting for your response. Regards shahin

    Hi, I recently visited your CZcams channel and was truly impressed by the quality of your content. However, I noticed some issues with your channel that prevented your videos from going viral. This is likely due to incomplete SEO for your videos. If you optimize and fix them it should significantly improve your video rankings. If you want a free audit report for your channel you can contact me.

    Yea but, oil pressure should be adjusted with a certified gauge. I have found these older Cessna instruments to be off although Beechcraft is worse as much as 20 psi. Idle mixture and idle speed affect each other, should start with checking plugs, looking for intake leaks, cyl cracks and the like but if it’s too hard to pull the bottom cowl....
