this is a great video, now in the end it turned out the ball end on mine could simply be unscrewed and the new showerhead put in its place, which I only realized after buying the adapters but without this video I wouldn't have even known what I was looking at

Helped me tremendously! I'm so glad I goggled before taking off the old as hell shower head to check for lime buildup.

This just saved me $270 for a plumber to cut the pipe out of the wall and attach a new one to go with the new shower head. Glad I said no to that guy.
