@@Planejuggler I say whatever gets it up works but definitely the right gear is always a plus but i have definitely shut up a few of my uncles who are die hard ugly stick guys .. lol I show up with a ultra light 7 1/2” okuma sst and a ceymer c-40 just for the fight 😂 .. man I love light gear on big fish .. when I was red fish fishing and snook fishing in Florida I also used light gear and my uncle was shocked when I pulled up a 20 pound red and snaked his snook 😆 while we were weighting in the river he kept saying i wouldn’t bring in big fish but then I land them and all I see are shocked 😳 faces ..” 😂 … then my uncle …. BOB .. BOB … no help and you fish you understand the name bob 💀

@@bub1931 it seems like the regulations are aways changing. The Columbia opens up the 1st of August. The season always depends on the fish counts. Hopefully it’s going to be a good return. Good luck on your trip. Let me know how you do out there. 🙌

Yeah we normally get them at 20ft on the counter but this day most of the fish we marked were deep. Talked to some other boats and they hooked them deeper then normal also. Still a bunch of fish around. Buoy 10 is almost here 🙌🙌🙌 Good luck out there and thanks for watching.

It’s a good time.

My set up is pretty simple 8weight fly rod. Red fish fly line and 9ft of 16 lb Rio leader. Fly of choice I tie up a variation of the carp hybrid. Hope this helps good luck and I’ll try doing another carp video for ya .

@@riverrightoutdoors I'm not as good as I rightfully should be given my time spent on the water. Spots like this have me in the weeds all day since I've moved out west and starting fishing the Deschutes. I'm better off with my spey rods, which I'm also not great with. But less time in the weeds.

I think the Oregon river I fish are further from the salt water which makes these fish less aggressive and harder to hit a swung fly.
