Thunderhill Raceway is a track in northern california owned by and built for the san francisco region SCCA. it's got a great layout with two side by side circuits that can run seperate events or be linked up for the full circuit. it's got some elevation change and some off camber stuff to spice it up. idk that it's ever held a pro series, but it obviously holds a whole buttload of club events and track days. for a long time it was the main home of 24 Hours of LeMons

Tskuba Wet Race on normal is a really good progression skip. The RWD sports cars have trouble with staying out. It can be beaten with a modifed Subaru Impreza and rewards a Mazda 6 Touring Car

Also, in the Ford GT LM Race Car's case, You forgot that they use a diferent engine (for some reason)

The R390 is a semi-premium car in GT6 and not a PS2 model. It was heavily updated and only lacked an interior. And the 787B was not the only Group C to get a premium model on the PS3 The Sauber C9 and Jaguar XJR-9 both received premium models too.

imagine the size of the check honda had to cut to polyphony to force players to buy the honda fit as their first car in GT6. imagine working in marketing for honda and being so out of touch with reality that you think compulsory advertising does anything but create unecessary hatred towards your brand. it was a long time ago, but i vaguely recall that when my brother, a real gran turismo junkie, was in the market for a car in the same category as a honda fit he specifically avoided the entire honda brand because of GT6. he got a vw golf instead. it was around the same time as gt6 released and i remember he was PISSED about having to buy a "Honda SHIT" i should ask him about that, but im pretty sure he did this. great work honda. did they think the "amazing" performance of their economical sub compact front wheel drive small displacement 4 cylinder car would win over players that were pissed they couldnt play the game they purchased the way they wanted? or was it more likely that players who were previously neutral about honda would now have a vendetta against a company that forced them to pick and race with a slow, ugly, understeering, shitbox instead of the massively better mazda mx5 that they wanted? what a conundrum.

I'll always remember getting a TVR speed 12 up to 275 mph in GT4 and it being the fastest I ever went in a game until the SRT vision car in GT sport.

Did you forget about the whole of the TOCA series? Snetterton, Knockhill... they've been in these games since 1997! I mean, if you really want obscure, how about the street tracks in the PGR games? Or some of the circuits that only appear in F1 games, and therefore only appear in that season? Or that version of the "M25" that appeared in one of the London Racer games? Also we need more appearances of Autrodrom Most and Brno in video games.

Whenever GT gets its’ reboot (as name reset), PD should add every track that’s ever been in a GT game. Remodel them to the standards of whatever console while preserving the style would be great fun. Looking at you, Cape Ring!

Actually the diablo did achieve one thing. It was actually the fastest production car in the world at launch. It had a capable top speed of 203mph (325km/h).

ProStreet is one of my all-time favorite racing games and the unique selection of tracks/layouts really helps that.

My hero car has to be the Ford GT (LM Race Car Spec II) with GT4 being my first game I played. However I also have some honourably mentions: The Castrol Toms Supra, the Team Oreca Viper and the Panzo Race car.

Mondello Park is present also in GT Legends (2003) from Simbin Enna Pergusa is also present in GTR and GTR2 (2002-2003) by Simbin Also Snetterton, Oulton Park and Knockhill were present in TOCA Touring Car (1997), and Cadwell is present also in RIDE series And Sugo was present in the early Superbike's game by Milestone (1999). And, of course, is present also in RIDE series And Rouen was present in Grand Prix Legends, the only F1 game from Papyrus... and the first one to feaure car of the past (the game was released in 1998, but the season was 1967!). It could seem funny, but the real life 1967 French GP was held at Bugatti Le Mans... and the experiment was NEVER repeated (horrible track at that time for F1). For this reason was replaced by Rouen Another obscure track could be Montlery, in France. It was included in Spirit of Speed (1999)... but I do NOT suggest you to take that game for that track (the game has an original concept, but the execution is awful).

GT7 is just another late stage capitalism product. They actually never cared about user experience, only about how much money they could extract to you, it was just that the most efficient way was the single player campaign. And now that microtransactions are sadly the norm, these are the fastest and most lucrative way to scam you out of money. No surprise, sadly.

Back in High School I had an idea for a racing game that I made some 2D assets for before losing steam. In terms of cars involved, it was the opposite of Leggera, being some sort of top-down open-world racer themed around the Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance where all the rich people took their fancy cars and went street racing around the island. The car list I made was about 200 strong, with lots of large pre WWII coachbuilds, 1950s luxury yachts, jet-age concept cars, and classic sports/super cars, all from before 2000. Expected racing game classics like Miuras, Countachs, famous Ferraris, but also little-known cars like the Ghia 450SS or Fitch Phoenix. The whole thing being 2D and cartoony would probably make it ripe for lots more content though, and in the time since I've wondered if it the concept of a top-down racing game would be feasible on a larger GT4/GT6 scale car list covering a little bit of everything. Another thing I wondered - if a game like this was made by an idie team, but published without including the names of the cars where the names could be installed as a "mod" made by a "player" instead get sued over licensing? The actual product for sale doesn't include anything linking the cars to their real-life counterparts other than top-down drawings, and the "mod" adds all the branding.
