RICOH GRIII - A project that changed my life
zhlédnutí 31KPřed rokem
This idea came to me in the closing days of December 2021, a project that would last the entire year. The concept was to create a body of work that each image seemingly on their own would hold no connection but combined became a layer in a year of my life almost like a slice through a 52 layered cake revealing the strata of life within. I picked Tuesday as I often find Monday a chore and would ...

I have been shooting with fuji cameras over the last 6 years and have never tried using Fujifilm recipes. So I decided to put them to the test, using film recipes from the amazing fujixweekly.com/ This was an interesting experiment as the recipes try to emulate film with all settings baked into the jpeg files without any editing. I have linked to the Fuji X Weekly recipes I used below, all shot...

A City in Black and White - Street Photography x100V & XT3 - Nottingham
Thanks for sharing your experience with this camera. Found myself a X100S last week. 😊
Thank you I enjoyed your journey.😊
are you still doing photography with the og x100?
Just stumbled across your video and thought to myself he sounds like he's from my neck of the woods (middlesbrough) clicked on your channel to find out more and lo and behold you're in Nottingham which is where I am...Great photography! keep up the good work man...we should grab a coffee - @waste_studio
Hey norm! Yes I'm from Middlesbrough too! Thanks so much for the message and yeah would definitely love to meet up and have a coffee ✌️📸
Very excited to try mine out based on this video --- great shots mate.
Yeah. I want to buy one.
I really like the Olympus Zuiko line in general but in particular the 50/1.4. I use it as a benchmark for all other lenses.
Just found you. We are in Carlton, Nottingham. We dip in and out of our love of photography. A couple of years ago it was all about photographing people in Nottingham. Then the joy wained. Until a few weeks ago and the itch returned. The idea of lugging about an SLR isn't grabbing at the moment. So we have just ordered a pair of old Sony RX 100's. The mark 1's. Hopefully some black and white street photography will happen. If not, we have tiny cameras to carry with us if the urge arise arises. Just subscribed to you.
In NYC, I just make sure my camera is in hand when I go outside and I enter a different state of consciousness. No effort required. Later I look at the mining in the river to see if there’s any gold. There almost always is.
hmm in rainy days is super but in so sunny days so bad....
Love this, Rich! Amazing message. Keep inspiring ❤
Thanks so much 🙏
Think it is okay to take a rest from photography. It's good for recharging your creative battery. I do that from time to time and it feels good to me. It takes the pressure off and you can devote yourself to your passion refreshed.
Cheers dude it's nice to know it's not just me ✌️📸
Quality video essay this mate. It's like you made it just for me! Thank you.
Ah derren any time dude 😎
Great work and photos of my hometown Nottingham. I have just started up again with street after a long break. Glad i found this channel, cheers.
Ah amazing let me know how it goes ✌️📸
I reach for my Fuji every single day..... yet like you I have periods of not wanting to. I think these are important Reset days / weeks / months. Its all normal. 😎📷👍👋
Thanks Steve ✌️📸
Good to see you back 👍
Thanks 👍
Absolutely love this video. The message. The poetic delivery. The b roll. And the images. Fantastic.
Poetic delivery! I'll take it ✌️
I can totally relate man. Life been getting in the way for me recently and I've been battling the "whats the point?", i cant improve if i dont get the time to shoot. Its easy to say just make the time but life quite often has other ideas. Then when i do get out, i put so much pressure on myself. Its a vicious circle sometimes. You have a new subscriber here. Keep up the great work 👍👊
Thanks for the kind words 🙏
I thought you were giving up then, keep it moving King… I always look forward to your street videos and was wondering when you’re gonna post a new vid… Good to see you back at it!💯💪🏾🕺🏿
Not yet my guy. Hope you are good ✌️🤟
@@LifeWorkDreams All good King, I hope all is well with you!🔥🕺🏿
Ive just watched a video called Souless Street photography. A professional photographer moaning that all street photos look the same, crushed blacks, bright whites, sick of seeing photos of Japan with the same music. An endless tirade of whats wrong. I wanted to slit my throat and throw away my cameras. Not an inspiring video at all. Talk about a put down. We are all on a journey, some at the beginning, or like me a 79 year old who loves street photography. I like mine, dont care if nobody else does. I try and capture a moment in time. People interacting with one another at the local market. Photos of my great grandchildren. I admire your honesty, and sincerely hope you manage to get back into what you love and do so well..
So damned true!
There are times when you simply reinvent one's self. Often it is only a slight adjustment of a rendition, and you are back on track again. Other times we simply need something of a larger change. Whatever the need, do it. If the goals change, find your new target and hit the mark. Some will find something new, and that's OK. Bear in mind life has other distractions and needs, and those can weigh on the everyday, thus it may not be photography at all which pulled you aside. To get back is to get back into it. Once you learn to ride a bike, you need not learn it all over again, simply grab the bike and pedal. I do enjoy street photography and people. If you have a minute free, Google me. Take care, Loren Schwiderski
And so as one chapter ends we will all lucky enough to read the next one, to see it unfold, and take on new form, to become a Phoenix that rises once again, ok a bit dramatic but the sentiment holds true, welcome back.
I like it! Thanks 🙌
Nice one. Glad to see some more great images from Nottingham. Looking forwards to the next one. Dan
Thanks Dan ✌️
I saw the mattress on Manvers Street. Drove past it thinking it would make a great image. So glad someone captured it. Love your images of my hometown
Ah no way! Thanks so much for watching 😀

Beautifully said. Welcome back dude. drop me a message when you're next in LDN.

What a great video. Lovely, honestly, true. I think everyone has times, where we are struggling. For different reasons. So good to hear/see you're back. Welcome, I'm looking forward to your new works👍🏻
Thank you as always 🙏
Been missing your videos. Made me really happy to see this pop up today. Your return (hopefully long-lived?) has inspired me to dust off my X-T20 and go out shooting. Best wishes to you and yours.
Ah thank you ☺️
Awesome. Bravo 🙏
Lovely stuff and great to see you are back behind the camera. I'm sat on a train back home after a fairly fruitless trip to London, so this has reminded me to keep going. Cheers!
Thanks so much Andy! ✌️
Im there mate.... Its a strange feeling... Im pushing though. It will happen again, photograhy is great, just walking around with a camera is therapy.... that is more than enough.

Interesting Channel. New subscriber!
Hey, my hometown!
Life can be hard at times and we all need to dig deep to see the light. This is such an inspirational video from the first word to the last. Your story telling is some of the best there is on CZcams and you pair that with your amazing visuals. You are such a talented young man and it’s so great to see you back doing what you love. It’s great to have Life Work And Dreams back and I can’t wait for the adventure to continue. Well done man❤
Hey thank you so so much this means so much 🙏
I for one am glad you are back, I love your content and the inspiration it brings. Thank you!
Hey thanks so much Kev 🙌
The best technique I’ve ever seen of a photographer using a camera is Aaron Berger on walkie talkie on CZcams. He uses the Ricoh like a conductors baton.
Go out, have a beer and a sit down, focus on things, women in hats, reflections, make a stranger laugh, grab a portrait and have another beer. That’s all I do, keep smiling and moving. When you get home it doesn’t matter if you don’t get any photos. I normally have 2 decent photos out of 500.
Perhaps this is how you evolve😊. I will follow your work and I will start going out again because of this video. You see sharing your story helps others too. Thank you.
This has made my day! Thanks so much for sharing ✌️ let me know how it goes 📸
Love the honesty in your struggle to get out capturing daily life through your camera. Sometimes you just need to step away and have a break. Welcome back! Keep doing what you love. )
Thanks so so much Anne ❤️
Another brilliant video! Welcome back
Thanks Holly 📸
Vibing the mood in this video, you had me captured at the first sentence all the way the end, well done, great music choice and pacing.
Thanks so much! Really enjoyed putting this one together ✌️
The camera opens up the entire world to me, it teaches me how to see, think and feel. Plus it engages strangers to talk to you. Photography is my life.
Such an amazing thing! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
Great video. I still use my X-Pro1 daily.
Better to keep a small light camera on your person when you go out. Ricoh GR. Sony X100 If you go out searching for an old man, wrinkled face, cigarette, etc.. You may never see that.
Hello, love your work! I inerited a helios 44M-5 and I am interested in investing in an adapter for my canon eosM50...I would appreciate a tutorial on how to work with analog lens on a digital body...
That’s beautiful work. Did you shoot with a specific BW simulation the whole time or a mix of the ones on the GR3?
what adapter did you use?
