Highlights of a day safari with snowmobiles run by "snow Games Oy" up and down the Luostan fell, across a frozen lake and lunch in a Lappish Kota. Great fun.
How much was the drum?
About £190 direct from Hotpoint spares.
Just wanted to say a massive thank you. I knew the bearings had gone in my washer which is a similar model. I looked at the videos for replacing the bearings and thought that it was definitely a no go. My wife was all set for spending £250+ on a new washer. I convinced her that a new drum at £150 was a better choice. Had a hiccup at the end when I realised I’d accidentally pulled out a connector but otherwise this was a perfect step by step guide. Saved me a bunch of money and I’m sat listening to a like new machine with an immense sense of pride.
How much cost the drum ??
Excellent fix Bob
Excellent video, you must have to have a love for this kind of job. for most, it is not even the most economically viable route to go down as a new drum is so expensive. On top of the drum price is of course, the work involved you show here. Hotpoint confirmed it is not possible to change the bearing itself without destroying the drum. So, yes You must change the whole drum as you show here. Drum price varies from £160-£250. The amount of work you correctly show on top of this drum cost would render most people’s machine obsolete for them. It seems to be 5 to 7 years period before failure, for most people with normal family use of this machine. This is planned obsolescence at its finest. Of course, they could make the design with an easy and cheap replaceable, bearing at low cost, but that wouldn’t fit in with the planned obsolescence PLAN would it. It should be Law that planned obsolescence of the machine you buy is declared at the point of new machine sale/purchase .
This is so wrong, they should introduce legislation to stop manufacturers from making sealed units, all that plastic etc which is creating a environmental issue just so they can make an extra buck, and all it needs us a fully recyclable bearing, absolutely scandalous, multiply this by million and all the waste plastic and the production of it produces tonnes of carbon and pollutants, good video very well explained and pro, but what a carry on all that work and hasstke plus cost when all it needs is a few quid for a bearing.
Really upset I only found 1p. 😂Thanks.
Oh, and I got £1.75 out of the outlet pipe. Ker-ching!!!🤑🤑
Money laundering that's legal😂. Thanks for the comment.
Just changed my drum, slight differences but nothing too difficult. The video was a huge help, many thanks.
I left in 2007 ....the year those young people started. Fair to say I didn`t recognise any of them!
Alright guys, people with the wmfug 942 have a product code for the bearings replacement?. I’ve done so googling and I can’t find the right part. Thanks guys
If I’m only trying to replace the front counter weight would I need to remove the motor?
Nicely explained! Also works for the Hotpoint RSG964JX UK, where only the pressure tube is different. Oh and some pesky star screws holding the lower concrete in. Doh!
just did mine today, i thought it was quite a easy repair if i’m honest wouldn’t mind doing it again, the old drum was made in 2008 ish so it had done quite well! i see what you mean with the model numbers i had to double check mine a few times as it was a wml540 p uk.r .. good video 👍
Brilliantly done thank you, I did my drum replacement yesterday and your video made it very straightforward. My machine is the WMFUG 942 UK P and it was almost exactly the same - the pressure sensor pipe comes off the drum directly. Thanks again, saved me a fortune and contained loads of handy tips in a very to the point video. A++
Hi there, Could you please tell me what bearing size you used and where you got the parts from as i got the same model and want to do my own replacement on bearings. Also was it a sealed drum? Thanks
@@HB-yp8lp you have to replace the whole drum on yours
@@hotpointbrownlover3365 Thanks for the reply, yes i know it's sealed drum, but i've seen videos of people cutting/splitting the drum, change the bearing and then then reglue/seal the drum and works just fine. Im thinking to give it a go.
I have the same model making a lot of noise at the moment, I think I’ve determined it’s the bottom front counter weight that’s loose, do you happen to know a way to get to the bolts without taking the whole drum out? The front doesn’t seem like it’s removable
@@Mrjoecummins you cant take the front off you have to remove the drum to get at this one
What an excellent video. Skilfully edited and clear at every stage. Are you ambidextrous?
Thank you. Great guidance, I went ahead and ordered the drum, replaced it successfully by following your YT video, thanks again for you help.
Thank you so much, this video was a great resource. After this job, I reckon any washing machine job would be do-able! My model was slightly different and the front drum weight was held on by torx bolts….
Well done! Great job and I love your Hotpoint matching set! We get out WMFUG942 (9kg model) done a few days ago as bearings went after 7 years
Hi. My Hotpoint model number WMFG631PUK is making a loud noise on washing and spinning . How do I tell if it's the bearings and are they easier to change than the drum ?
replace the whole drum
Very good video, just awful that you have to replace the whole drum unit instead of just the bearings...so wasteful...
All brands now, hoover, beko, Bosch etc
Hello, could you record Fast Wash 30 please?
You may have already addressed the fault in the door locking mechanism, but just in case you weren't aware this model was recalled due to a fire risk www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/product-recalls/2019/12/hotpoint-and-indesit-washing-machines/
Nicely done and edited. Did you have to replace the whole drum rather than just the bearings?
Would like to say a big thank you, followed your guide today for my WMFUG842G UK, first class instruction.
Where did you find bearing kit, everytime I search says can't find part for this model?
Could you do a video on replacing the heating element?? Great video. Thanks.
Thanks Kyle. There are CZcams vids already for this, just search for "Hotpoint washing machine heater element replacement". Good luck.
