Excellent weather, as a side note this Artillery fire was originally schedule for the July 4th celebrations but had to be rescheduled due to the flooding from the St. Croix. Hope you are doing well pard.

Fun fact: we had plans for carrying the "wounded" off the field on stretchers and take them to the wagon ambulance -- however the canvas stretchers had some rips and rot so deemed not safe to do so. THANKS pard for the comment.

for blanks we use ~3/4 pound of powder so around $30 if you have to pay "full price" for black powder. We do purchase in bulk so it a bit less.

we reenactors did get a very small taste of battle conditions... in some battles the rebels just keep coming seeming by the hundred ... felt like we were very outnumbered. thanks for the comment!

Join a unit, you can probably find one near you on the internet, but it is very costly so you better have a passion for history !

Agreed with the comment below - look for a reenactment group in your area. if you are looing for this specific site here the old event info www.cantonsouthdakota.com/CivilWarDays/ - this specific event is held every two years.

such a fun time at this event pard, and glad he enjoyed it ... a lot more to fun to actually participate (even if its on water detail) than to simply watch. Perhaps next time getting him into ranks.

@@1stminnsharpshooters341 and I saw the video of that event you did in Colorado That's actually the first time I've ever seen anyone really reenact anything related to the US cavalry on the frontier let alone in the years after the civil war
