Interesting mate, yeah the distant nodes are meant to respond first in order to try and increase the distance the mesh covers. This is great on the flat terrain of a desert island but not so great in a complex terrain like the UK. Love the messages at the end! 😂

I'm under the impression that any recent window installation is likely to be K-Glass, which I believe can block RF signals a significantly more than traditional glass? I could be mistaken, but I've been trying to avoid nodes indoors next to windows for that reason. Just something to consider

The FCC haven't suggested they'll approve the application as yet though have they? I've seen a few reactionary people saying the government is trying to shut it down, but if anything, it would be capitalism and greed if it gets approved, rather than anything nefarious I'd have thought. Here's hoping they find a different band to use which didn't affect anyone too much

Well, if the states does it, it may be picked up elsewhere, so good idea for the UK to get ahead of the curve, we all know how sneaky governments can be! This band needs to be kept open and free and not sold off to the highest bidder.

Just remember Australia follows alot of what the US does with these sorts of things. So yeah if you lose this battle Australia will follow suit and then the UK

I just finished putting together a solar node with a Wisblock, using a 10W eco-worthy panel which was only £13. Left it outside today which was very deary indeed, and it put 14% back on the batteries which was nice. Just need to finish designing the 3D printed housing as I'm not happy with that yet.

sla style printing also works good for most metastatic cases i use siraya tech blu resin and havent had any problems

I'll abuse this video for a support question on the mpowered247 Meshtastic map: Why is it only possible to register one node per email? I'm building a grid here, and it would be neat if I could have more than one? Cherrs btw, your map page is excellent. Loads much better with the new heatmap overlay.

I modified one of the TonyG cases from printables to take an IPEX to N-Type so I could put my board as close to the antenna outside up on the roof. Of course I have my own 3D printer so that's handy. In hindsight I have a better connector now which comes with a proper sealing ring and screw, so I'd design it differently. As it was with the other one, I ended up tight push fitting it and then epoxy sealing the whole thing

lol I think I bought my heltec from the same ebay seller :D Got the exact same case. The button part snapped off within a few presses! Luckily I have a 3D printer and made my own case.

I printed my own quality on 3d printers is much better now days.
