Sorry for the late reply, just back from Hawaii. Rapala X Raps and CD's in the deeper water are my absolute go to however any surface Jackall's are the go for shallower areas.

@@rawlosfishing My father and I have often spent nearly a hole day drifting around blacknose point for hardly a bite,then with in an hour catching a great bag of whiting and flatties and also the occasional gummy and school shark.

Blacknose is one of my favourite whiting grounds, I'm hoping to do a video from there in the near future.

They would definitely work, the battle would be the weed in some areas. Deeper channels however they would be dynamite.

@@rawlosfishing I tend to use them like a spinner and find the Redfin will attack them anywhere in the water column,when the water is shallow.

Thank you, Cam loves chasing the freshwater species. The water itself is a local water not far from Portland, due to its quality we cannot reveal too much.

Land based fishing for flathead in Portland is a bit hit and miss, the quality of fish is also on the smaller side. The break wall is always worth a try and will produce flatties, also try the rocks at Pivot Beach. Conventional surf tackle is your best shot in these areas, load up with some local squid and give it your best shot.

Unfortunately not, the lake is mostly surrounded by reeds and cumbungi. It's definitely a lake for a tinny or a kayak.

@@alexnunn7130... we don't have many places you can genuinely chase a 50cm reddie, this is one. It is however a very difficult place to fish, they just don't bite.
