People spend multiple thousands of dollars to buy a telecaster that is lovingly crafted to capture the pure vintage sound and vibe of a $500 telecaster.
Good original list 👍 two of my favorites are The Trooper and Lil Jack Horny by Extreme
The riskiest thing a guitar company can do is to make an expensive telecaster

Comes down to the sound and quality of the instrument, and one's personal connection to it. In my experience bells and whistles like push/pull knobs etc. not the be all and end all of a great guitar. Having said all that, yeah $3500 for that instrument is a big ask.
