Why Pi? Defining Pi Use of Pi Did anyone "discover" pi? Pi is relevance. Calculating pi The celebration of Pi Day began on March 14, 1988, at the San Francisco Exploratorium, where physicist Larry Shaw organised a celebration to make mathematics more relatable and fun. March 14, 1879, also happens to be the birthday of Albert Einstein, one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century....

This is very helpful! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
you just randomly picked u = y-2x? why not v?
You can pick v=y-2x.
and then u=y+x.
bro thank you so much this was making me lose my mind.
Glad I could help
Thank you so much!!! It's such a simple problem but I was losing my mind over finding u and v. You explained it very clearly in a way I haven't seen in any other videos.
You're very welcome!
wonderful!
Thank you! Cheers!
💯
Sir, I've found that Alan S. Tussy's books are very helpful for beginners like me. Can you recommend another math book on calculus for a complete beginner?
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
thank you for breaking this down in a simple way
Glad it was helpful!
I love the design :)
Glad you like it!
using visual ques is a tremendous help that i find allows me to learn math.
Jim, Glad to hear that from you.
Miss doing math @ CCSF... I need Renee's classes & to learn more Chinese!
Jim, you are always welcome to come back to school and enroll in my class! :-)
@@reneesmathclassroom-calcul6577 I’ve taken calculus twice, and didn’t pass. I was so frustrated and felt maybe I missed out on something from Trig (I get a little lost on the pythag properties in differentials) but your visual style is a big way of how I’ve noticed I learned. I’m going to make time to see your video for Math 110A before I can get in class. I’m in math 95 now. (Sorry for long reply)👍🏼🙏🏼
@@Jim_Tacitus Jim, Thank you for reaching out to me and expressing your interest in taking my class again. I'm sorry to hear that you've struggled with calculus in the past, but it's great to hear that my visual teaching style resonates with you and has helped you learn in the past. It's important to identify where you may have struggled in the past, such as with trigonometry, and work on those areas to strengthen your foundation before diving into calculus again. I'm glad to hear that you're planning to watch my Math 110A videos before starting the class. That should help you get a head start and build confidence before the class begins. I'm looking forward to having you in my calculus class and I'm confident that with hard work and dedication, you can succeed. Good luck with your studies in MATH 95, Trigonometry, and I'll see you in class soon!
litterally you saved my life before my finals
Happy for you :-)
Thank you so much!
i dont mean to disrespect but i think the intro music is unnecessary, and extremely loud. when you speak the volume is very low i have to wear a headphone and have the volume almost up to max to hear you. just wish you would fix these issues.
Thank you for your feedback.
number 8?
I like how professor Liu shows that Calculus has real life applications.
Professor Liu definitely puts a great effort in making these videos. Nicely done!
Great key points!
great video! happy Lunar New Year!
Happy New Year!! :)
Prof., I was in your precal class at CCSF when the pandemic began. I’m looking for a digital note taking tablet, which tablet do you use, and which software or app? Also, I’m thinking to returning to CCSF for calculus, I really did much better under your instruction. -Jimmy
Hi Jim, I remember you very well :-). You were probably the first subscriber of my channel. I am using an ipad pro together with an ipad pencil. The App that I use to take notes is called Notability. You can find it on the App store. Hope you are doing well!!!
@@reneesmathclassroom-calcul6577 hi professor, I’m ok. I don’t know if it’s the pandemic and remote learning, but I am thinking to return to CCSF. I want to apply to CalPoly or UC Berkeley/Davis. The reason I wanted to know about your material is because I want to start digitizing my notes to better follow online instruction (and not kill so many trees). Hard to be an environmental and engineering student if I’m still stuck writing on dead trees. 😆 Anyway, from what I’ve seen, your notes and flow of instruction is the most consistent and makes the most sense from the other math professors I’ve had. I like how you do notes in your videos and I wanted to know what you worked with. So far I’m looking to get “Remarkable2” electronic notepad to do paper notes in and store them, but I like having colored pens. I guess there is always compromise. Well hopefully I see you on campus this spring for math 110a, in-person classes again? I hope. Thank you professor and really hoping to survive calculus!🙂
@@Jim_Tacitus Great 👍!

Cartoon car is so cute. Good painter.☺️
Thanks professor! :)
I remember the first time I watched this video, it was a very welcoming video, just as expected from you Prof Renee! Your goal was to make your students feel welcomed was it not C:
I'm getting the hand of doing arc lengths thanks to your videos >:3
Love your submarine drawing!
It took me a minute to realise that I didn't already have an integral of tanx.
More great drawings!
:) yeah~
This video was very easy to follow. I'm feeling better about integrals. Thank you.
Your car drawings are always so cute!
Wowza professor Renee, the editing in this video is very unique XD especially the introduction.
Thank you for the video!
I got the sofa~
Thank you for explaining this concept. It's helpful to see the relationship between time, distance, and velocity on a graph.
:)
❤️
Clear explanation 👍
I love the animations!
Thank you for the video!
Thank you for the fun recipe video. I will have to try this.
This looks delicious!
