You could easily get a cycle rack that fits on the back of the car. - I couldn't get the heating on my leaf to come on without the car being switched on or in accessory mode with it plugged in.

I had mine for a year before I bit the bullet and I'm mad I didn't do it before I use mine for grocery store trips and it'll hold a frozen pizza one of those packs of chicken and it won't squish bread I used to use a backpack now I can get about 20 more pounds of groceries home versus a backpack. I fell in love with mine all over again!
