I have bought 2 CVPI's this year, both in May, both Texas cars and rust free. Can't imagine ever getting a northern car. The '03 I got for $2,250 with 112,000 miles on it. It has full carpet and wheel covers, cloth buckets and vinyl rear seat. Never had a light bar, only 1 antenna in roof, had a cage but removed before purchase, but rear doors and windows work just fine (except a flakey lock actuator and bad window motor on pass side). Was a Sheriff detective car per the maintenance guy that I talked to when I picked it up, and was a "spare" vehicle for general county use for the previous 4 years before being sold with minimal use, it sat for over a year not being driven before I got it. Rear calipers were sticking bad, so had to replace those. Bad battery. Has the bad white paint with a few small and medium sections missing, a bit of surface rust, but nothing bad. Rest of the body is fine except for a dent above the rear drivers tire. Also needed 5 tires, the ones on there were 8 years old, with 2 being in bad shape. Have spent ~$1,800 getting everything sorted and up to par. Still need to get an aftermarket alarm to get keyless entry)and need to find another similar year Panther to grab the stuff to add cruise, but car is a good to go daily now. The other one is a black '11 CVPI SAP with 170,000 miles, but only 650 idle hours. Was $3,350. Has cruise, power front seat with built in arm rests, cloth rear seat, CD player. Was a Texas DPS car (again, no lights installed, so some type of supervisor/admin vehicle?) before it was given to the Texas Department of Emergency Management. Spent another $1,500 on it getting up all sorted (tires, battery, all fluids, serpentine belt and radiator hoses, headlight housing, window motor, about the same stuff as the '03). Roof is a little rough, but no paint coming off, no rust anywhere on it. 2 antenna holes on roof, no lightbar ever installed. It is also now fully sorted and my kid is driving it.

@@blupupher Very nice purchases. Sadly you’re right that prices will never come back down, and getting one for $3,000 is not going to be problem free. Those days are behind us.
