Obv very late to the party here, but I know 99% of everything on this game, since i was an angry, mentally violent late 70s baby, & this game was the perfect outlet for all that (and football lo) So i played this game so damn much, to the point that I'm sure I had BONE ON PLASTIC/ fingers to controller, and I was one of those "weirdos" growing up that actually read the manual (or if I was just too amped to play the game & I ripped open the box & jammed the cartridge in to play as fast as humanly possible, my older brother would grab the manual & read & shout stuff out as I played lol)... In no particular order: ---need the wanted poster to get the boss battle, or u had to just walk thru the stage over and over again; u could shoot around and find them among other secret items. That noise u hear when shooting the barrels? If u heard that but knew u were shooting "nothing," focus on nothing else and keep firing, cuz u about to get 1 of the 4 absolutely VITAL items for this game - the wanted poster, obviously - the red "makashi"(spelling?) AKA, a 1 up (the blue one gave u temporary invincibility, or it was vice versa, not 100%, not 100% important) - the horse, who still has one of the best overall appearances in any game, IMO lol... the extra music,,the game freeze, the anticipation that u aint gonna be one shot killed... for ME, it was as cool and motivational as Chavez showing up again in YOUNG GUNS with the horses so they could escape (Dirty Steve, " CHAAAVEZZZZ!!!" Lol, so great... until the deaths come smh) - the 4th vital item was one u had to buy, excuse me, I mean, you HADDD to buy, the Smart Bomb. Select it, and sure, ur back down to ur reg 6 shooter* vs a stronger gun, but same as the horse, no more one shot, one YOU DEAD, with the added bonus of all enemies instant death * - play this game with a NES Advantage or some sorta controller with TURBO. Ur fingers will thank you, and u can save the money for the ever rising costs of the poster &/or horse (ps we called the horse, Mr. DEAD lol) --- the townsfolk with the exclamation point took turns selling u weapons, or ammo, a horse, or the mandatory wanted poster --- finding the little rifles, boots, or cow skull just gave u longer ammo range, faster character speed, or took AWAY each of those things, respectively. I think you could "store" 4 rifles and 4 boots to MAX u out. So the skull would drop u to 3 and 3, say... --- before each board, u get the boss graphic on the wanted poster. I'd always hear people say "Damn, this Ninja Darts guy is tough," like it's his name. No, it was the guy's name and his weapon... like WINGATE, uses a MACHINE GUN. Not important, but just something i heard and saw here. Ps, who cares about ninjas in 1840s America; u had a horse who could take 5 bullets before dropping dead, a little suspension of belief is key here haha... --- again, turbo button was key, so u didn't need to buy any weapons really, but especially the machine gun. However the magnum was most powerful, but slow. The shotgun was like the Spreader in Contra Anything else, I can't really remember or didn't notice anyone asking... Basically, if you play this INSANELY fun and addictive game, get a turbo controller, SHOOT EVERYTHING, dodge "everything," keep ur eyes moving like you're driving a race car at 150 mph, buy/find a horse, and a smart bomb, not at the expense of buying the wanted poster if u can't find it, which u find by: what did we learn? Yes that's right. SHOOT EVERYTHING!!!! 😂

When Duke Nukem was released, there were different versions of the game and one of the versions I've found out was Duke Nuke 3D and that's how I heard of the game but there were other versions as well such as original Duke Nukem that was released in 1991 and the other one in 1993 and then came the 3D version in 1996. But for me honestly, I liked the 3D version.

One of the rare ports that was better than the arcade. I try to play the arcade version, but it just doesn't have the same charm and fun factor like the NES version did.
