No RoundUp! Ever!
I’m open to alternatives. But if you have 15 miles of fence, weed eating is not feasible.
Git you some border collies!!
If I did that, I’d have to get a gym membership. 😂
I want to know can I keep my own goat kids and breed them back to there father? Or do I need to get a new goat ram everytime I want to keep my own goat kids from that particular father? I can't find any video s on that.
I always swap out my breeding bucks/rams every breeding season. However I’ve always been told it is ok to line breed one generation (father to daughter), but not two generations (father to granddaughter).

What if you don't have enough pastures and feed hay
If you are truly “dry lotting” (no grass, just dirt) and feeding hay, worms should not be a big problem. They pick up the worm larva from grass. Hay should be larva free (can’t survive in dried hay). However if you have just a little grass that they graze very close they may be picking up worm larva.
Please don't waste our time with usless introductions when I already know what the video is about from the title. And we don't need the background noise/music. For those reasons, I was going to give a thumbs down but the video was so informative, you get a tumbs up.
Thanks the reluctant thumbs up, and I appreciate the feedback. I’ll keep that in mind on future videos.
Cydectin for sheep is also safe for goats?
Yes, I believe so. However, the dosage would probably be different (higher for goats). But I have used it on goats.
👍👍👍👍
Can you draw up some plans for this maybe? Id love to build one
👍👍👍👌
Hello good looking heard you have may I ask what breed they are
Katahadin sheep and Kiko and Boer goats.
can you tell me how wide you made your handling alleyways and if you'd do them any different (wider or more narrow). I plan to make mine out of pipe with everything welded and I don't want to make any errors! I have goats...about 50 and we just catch all of them to worm and vaccinate. It's truly a rodeo and very stressful for all involved. Would like to work smarter!
My alleys are 20”, which is a little too wide for most (smaller ones can turn around). However, a big Kiko buck with wide horns has trouble getting through it. So it’s kind of a compromise.
@@rollingofarm Thanks for the response. Can you tell me how tall you made them? Using R Panel, it looks like 36" or so, but thought I would ask. All my stock has horns and I don't want to make them too short where my goats will jump out! Thanks again for the response!
I am looking baby goats or 3 to 4 my nths old goats. I am in North Georgia. Please let me know what you have
Thanks for checking with me. I don’t have any babies right now, but I can try to send you some photos of 3-4 month old goats. Please send me a text with your request to 256-668-3014. Thanks.
Useful. Thanks for taking the time.

What kind of sheep are good for dairy, that is a hair sheep. That can handle the heat of south east Alabama, that is common enough so I can find some and wouldn’t be to expensive?
I really dont know anything about dairy breeds. Sorry.
How many times should i feed 3 or 2 times
If you are feeding hay, leave it out free choice (unless it is alfalfa or some very rich hay). If you are feeding grain, once or twice is fine, but just not too much at a time.
alabama I am in south east I am working making my place ready for goats or sheep or both. For dairy and meat.
Im team 🐐
Is it better to use a wider board, like an 2x10 or 2x6 or 8?
I’m not certain. Too wide a board may be prone to bow, but I’m not certain.
We rotationally graze a flock of sheep and goats. In setting up the next couple of paddies, we came across a fox den. We’re going to graze around the fox den, but are surprised as to how the fox got in the pasture since we have six and seven strains on electric high-tensile fencing. Our fence is very hot, 8k volts. In any event, do foxes tend to be a problem with sheep and goats, especially when these small ruminants are birthing? Also, we’re concerned about dogs barking at night with neighbors close by. Any suggestions as to how we might find a guardian llama or possibly other livestock guardian animal? Thank you for your help.
I have never had problems with foxes, but I’ve heard others talking about them be a problem for small lambs and kids. I don’t have any experience with llamas. Donkeys may make more noise than dogs.

Is that hay from rice crop or wheat ?
My square bales are Bermuda and round bales are mixed grass of fescue and orchard grass.
Love it,! I have been heading out three four times a day. This will do it. Thank you, the most sensible solution!

Wow, thank you!
Hi. Sir, kindly spell the plant name. All I get is soresales but I knew the spelling was wrong because there were no results for me searching for it.
Hi. Thanks for these great tips. In your video, you mentioned a plant that I can't spell well. All I heard was sorilos. Can you please help me out with that plant name?? Kindly

How did you make the thing to turn them?
I just came here just to say that in your thumbnail you look like Red Green.
From tenacious horses to dogs, I've found once an animal hits that fence and gets zapped, they never ever cross it again. For people who think it's cruel... All my dogs and horses are safe ony ranch, and my neighbors have lost all kinds of animals to cars and traffic thinking a 1 second shock is too cruel
Very helpful,thank you!
Does your cost of input make the top 5 list? If you don't buy any feed and just rotational graze do you think it effects your profit margins?
For my operation, feed is mostly a liability. I know people make a profit raising them in barns with only bought hay and feed, but I don’t have experience with that. I rationally graze 8-9 months of the year and feed hay for 3-4 months a year with almost no feed.
In Southern Alabama and just found a goat running the dirt road and very thankful to be learning from your channel...❤
Glad it’s helpful.
Great video - thank you. I'm realizing temporary electric fencing is not sustainable (it's a pain to move every few days and risks killing the goats in tangles as you mentioned so that defeats the point). I need better fencing for rotational grazing. I think I'm going to go with the horse/goat/sheep exterior fencing and electric dividers. We have rocks and mountain land so fencing with land that is not level is no easy task. Also - if you live in Montana the fish & wildlife teams help get funding for electric to hold out the grizzlies/mountain lions/wolves. They cover some of the cost as well so it's worth reaching out if you need it.
I just bought 2 goats from a breeder who said he puts out the block of Safeguard for cattle.
Was very helpful, was dead worried about my female.
I’m in Al and was wanting toto buy some female sheep. I have a male we have raised from 4 days old. Do you by chance sell any sheep? Of not where on north Al can you buy them at reasonable cost
Yes I have female sheep available. $200-$250 each. Feel free to give me a call. 256-668-3014
Great job explaining the different classes of dewormers and how to administer them. I'm familiar with the Famacha scoring system and administering (having worked for a large animal vet many years ago), but your video was helpful in the particular details and how to best use them to keep the parasite load low/manageable in goats and sheep.
Glad it was helpful!

I think you can get more money for goats where there are more ethnic communities. In the USA that means the south.
That is possible, but a lot of the goats and sheep grown in the south end up going to New Holland , PA.
I've heard that sheep see fences as their safe place; Goats see fences as a challenge. (No experience with sheep, but this is definitely true for goats. One time a friend and I spent 2+ hours preparing fencing only to have her bucks immediately take two flying leaps right out 😂🤦♀️)
You are not wrong.
@@rollingofarm 😂
My sheep go crazy as soon as I get close, start crashing into the fence and jumping everywhere
You may be able to calm them down by daily feeding a little grain. They may get use to seeing you and equating it with a treat. It may take a few weeks, but they may help.
This is very informative video, love it.
