Ep 31 ~ Unbounded Freedom with Ruben Laukkonen
This week's episode features Dr. Ruben Laukkonen, an accomplished researcher in meditation and altered states of consciousness. With a PhD on insight experiences from the University of Queensland and postdoctoral work on the neuroscience of meditation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Ruben now serves as an assistant professor at Southern Cross University. His research investigates some of the rarest states of consciousness available to human beings, utilizing methods like neuroimaging and phenomenology. A recipient of multiple awards, Ruben combines an eclectic contemplative background from traditions such as Zen, Advaita, and Theravada with a deep experiential understanding of altered states of consciousness, meditation, and awakening. In our discussion, Ruben shares insights from his personal journey and his experience of reality throughout it.

    I'm still having one major issue in regards to the theoretical framework of this. So 1) Brahman is All there is and 2) Tat Tvam Asi (I am (in essence) that) but how is it that this right now what my relative Avatar/Ego/Jiva is experiencing is what it is experiencing and not something entirely different - am I in my essence doing ALL simultaneously or just This - where does brahmans preference for a specific vantage point arise. This literally breaks my head lol

    • @christopherwallis751
      @christopherwallis751 Před dnem

      @@timoxyz1466 there is no preference for a specific vantage point. Consciousness sees through all vantage points simultaneously. @@christopherwallis751 Thanks for your answer but so we are speaking ALL possible vantage points as in humans, ants, objects as everything is consciousness and even things we as humans do not see or perceive - so in essence everything is because there is no preference and all of that is god simultaneously with the exception that to see through things individually he has to forget that fact?

    There seems to be a distinction, on the surface at least, from those who are realized and those who are realized and can also experience the saccidananda state at will. For some reason some of us are made to not only experience the saccidananda state but to know how to experience it through systematic means such as through yogic techniques etc. That isn't to say one is better than the other, but it does make me realize there is a difference in approach to those who have moments of experience and those who can experience at any and all moments.

    Re; putting too much credibility in 'feelings' (thought/ego!); "The heart is deceitful above all things!"

  • @nameless-yd6ko
    @nameless-yd6ko Před 6 dny

    Ego = thought = duality! The ego and why it is an absolute necessity!! We pretty much know that our Reality is 'non-dual', meaning "A Singularity"!! Being a Singularity, time, as we perceive it, cannot possibly exist, thus, neither can dimension/space! One way to see it is as follows; the 'tiniest bit of time' possible is called a Planck Moment. (Look it up!) It doesn't last long enough to have sufficient temporal qualities for any motion to be possible. No, not the tiniest sub-sub-sub atomic particle or wave function. So, what is our concept of time, one after the other moment, like a string of popcorn! But what do we really have; 0+0+0+0+0+... (every moment of Universal existence, ever) = '0'! The entire 'time-span' of the Universe is all moments perceived occurring simultaneously! NOW! "The Laws of Nature are not rules controlling the metamorphosis of what is, into what will be (ie; Karma). They are descriptions of patterns that exist, all at once... " - Genius; the Life and Science of Richard Feynman All 'eternity' at once; Here! Now!! Now look up Planck Volume and learn how the Universe can have no dimensional existence, either. One can go on re; Consciousness/Mind, but this is enough to put the silly notion of mortality, time away as the only perspective. It isn't, it's just another perspective from Hell. Hint; Duality is absolutely to perceive the Singularity, non-duality! We are how God knows Ourself! Imagine, if all that is perceived by everyone being One Consciousness, ever, is one giant flash of Divine Self Knowledge, in a single 'moment', I think that calling it all a 'Big Bang' is a bit ... understated? ;)

    What a wonderful interview with Dr. Ruben Laukkonen. I look at his website and found his email contact address. I’m going to email him the method and the actual mechanism behind meditation. His insights gained with psychedelics only came about because real joy and happiness was experienced. Any time joy and happiness is experienced it produces a steadfast insightful state of mind. But his ultimate disillusionment came with repeated usage because it is itself a sensory experience. All sensory experiences acquires habituation with repeated usage, in which the same joy and happiness is now seriously diminished. How many times can you enjoy the fragrance of a flower before habituation immediately sets in? So now he becomes disillusioned with his insightful experience. But there is a solution. That is to experience happiness not through the senses but by transcending inwardly into the subconscious. Habituation does not occur there while retaining complete control over your mental faculties. All of his searching to fulfill an innermost void or of something being amiss can be found there at this very real destination. And it doesn’t take months or years of practice but is effortless and immediate. It is not self inquiry/reflection, nor contemplation, nor mantra meditation, nor trying to disassociate yourself from the problem. No one can think themselves out of a thinking box. The mind’s yearning and desires is not an illusion but an innate part of being human. It is also what leads us to the objective reality of the Absolute. Without transcendence, a person can search in a thousand different directions but will never find happiness.

    I think that maybe Jesus wasn't wrong about the Escheton. There is strong evidence to suggest he travelled far and wide in the undocumented years of his life and was influenced greatly by Hinduism and Eastern beliefs, which he incorporated into his teachings. If this is true, then maybe when he said some will be alive at the end of time, he could have been suggesting Samsara. Then effectively some people would be alive at the end times, even if that is in another million years, but in another body. Maybe he meant the divine spark would still be on Earth.
