The way everyone has commented you would think he was a Hollywood star. He actually did very little acting in different things compared to say David Jason. I never liked him or his character. Bob Grant made OTB not Reg Varney

I never saw any sign of this new series, but then by the sound of it I don't think it would have been much good if people were expecting something like the original.
The plot was written up, it was that Jack and Stan had started they're own bus company and they're rival would have been blakey, no more then that was said

I was 6 years old in mid 1990. But I have been a fan of on the buses since the late 2000's. This show was very funny. And entertaining. Rest in peace all the cast and crew of this great show.

I like how Reg said that the buses and the lack of female drivers would need to be updated. It would have taken more than that to get on TV. I'm guessing that the popularity of Men Behaving Badly made them think it could be done but the show would have lost so much of its original '70sness' that it wouldn't have been recognisable. Mind you, they brought back Open All Hours. Maybe it'd have done alright on a Sunday night on ITV

Who else is watching this in 2022 woke Britain laughing at him saying "well if we bought the series back, it's got to be updated" *woke kids listening intently for his comments on the misogynistic overtones and objectifications. Then he goes "i mean the buses are all different!"....lol

The main reason was underfunding from ITV
