I don't like some of these comments being all elitist with the "rules" of counterpoint. This isn't 1750 anymore. It's 2022. The composer can do whatever the hell they want! That being said, the subject is WAY too long, and the counterpoint could use some improvement...

You can do whatever you want. That doesn't mean that what you do will be good, nor that people will like it. Sure, you can ignore the rules of cooking, but nobody will eat that lead and mercury flavored cake of yours.
Yes, you don't have to always follow the rules but if so, it should be done intentionally. And it's quite obvious that the parallel octaves or fifths in the piece are not intentional at all but rather a lack of knowledge of the rules of counterpoint. And therefore it also sounds, in all honesty, quite unsatisfying.

Because the music is felt as two beats per bar, with each beat divided into three parts, not as three beats per measure.
