I first saw Johnny Mercer MP do some paramotor flying one day in 2020 and wondered what on Earth I had just seen, then watched one too many Tucker Gott videos after looking into it some more, the flying to McDonald’s one especially (cheers for getting me hooked dude’s). The Pub, The Paramotor and the Hot Air Balloon.
Hello and welcome back for another episode of paramotor flying in the UK. No food this time, but a cheeky beverage....... of course!
This time out was a little different than usual, as I tend to take off and land at the same spot, completing the flight as I do so. On Saturday though, I proceeded to take off from the back garden and flew my paramotor to the Griffins Head Pub in Papplewick for a XC flight, to rendezvous with Nottingham and Derby Hot Air Balloon Club as they inflated their latest Balloon for a short tethered flight. I was invited to join them so it wasn't a random landing. My landing zone was quite a squeeze and there are power lines at each end of the field as you will see, so please do not attempt to land here without solid landing skills. if you have only just finished learning to fly a paramotor or have yet to perfect your landings it might be worth waiting. It is courteous to call in ahead of landing too, so please do so if you're thinking of a flight to the pub.

I don't think I have ever seen such a happiness in my eyes as there is at the outro of this one, those of you that know my background will know how much of a victory that is, and proof to others that we can overcome the dark times.

Gosh it felt like yesterday when i was sweeping water of the front of my house. I live not far from there and my house was almost flooded!
That was some crazy stuff, I’ve never seen anything like it - the sheer volume of water was unreal! I do sometimes wonder if everyone has been made right again following that!
