Snorkeling Looe Key
I have been taking a break from the homeplace for a little bit with some rest and relaxation down in the Florida Keys. Had an amazing time snorkeling Looe Key located 7 miles or so offshore from Bahai Honda/Big Pine Key. What a magical place to spend with 2 wonderful people in my life!! I hope you enjoy…it was amazing to see so much beauty in God’s amazing creation. So blessed to go on this trip!

26' Logs on the Sawmill? EZ Boardwalk 40 Sawmill Extension
zhlédnutí 312Před 3 měsíci
One of the great things about the EZ Boardwalk 40 is it's rugged simplicity. I wanted to be able to mill longer logs than the stock rails allow (16') so my good friend Troy welded up a 10' extension for me so I can mill logs up to 26' long now. Come along as I install the extension for my mill.

Utility Trailer Conversion: Broke Down Boat Trailer Reborn

    This is a great kind of review because you seem like a real guy who really uses the thing, talking about your actual experience with it. As some have pointed out, you don't know the longevity of it, but it's an actual functioning piece of equipment that you're telling us about and it's appreciated.

    Great build, I’m slowly converting a smaller boat trailer to a utility probably about a 5’x 8’ haven’t measured yet. Have to cut the 3x3 metal square tubing shorter where the front is. Lol when I hook it up it goes so fare back way to long. Was probably for a long light boat. I wish I would have watched your video first though. I like that you went out past the wheels to give a bit extra space. I’m working on a budget build for it so it’s taking a while with the cost of wood. Keep up the great work

    Are those tires rated for the highway. How fast were you going

    • @homeplaceadventures
      @homeplaceadventures Před 3 měsíci

      good question! I am genuinely not sure. They are the tires that come with the mill from the manufacturer. I was on the interstate for a little bit...maybe an hour or so doing 65-75mph without issue. Rest of the drive was backroads at 55MPH or so. I had no issue either way. I know that the manufacturer drives them across the US with these tires on the interstate without issue. I don't think they have a speed limit on the tires like some other manufacturers have on their mills. It pulled very smooth behind my full size pick up. Thanks for watching!

    Best review I've seen online of the EZ Boardwalk Model 40. You did a great job covering the things that make the EZ Boardwalk different from all the other mills out there. I ordered a new one along with a 20' extension and some other odds and ends in Jan 2023 with a backlog to around Sep 2023, but Stanton ended up being backed up a bit more so I didn't get it until Dec 2023. I love it. If you end up sawing timber with significant taper, the towboard option is expensive but, like the frame rails, is a really heavy duty beast with a simple but good design. Recommend you bolt a stop at the far end so you don't accidentally roll the sawmill head off the end. With that slanted head, if you are watching the leading wheel that is farther aft instead of the most forward leading wheel, it is easy to go too far.

    • @homeplaceadventures
      @homeplaceadventures Před 5 měsíci

      That’s awesome you have one of their mills as well!! Thanks for the kind words on the quality of the review! There doesn’t seem to be much online about them which is surprising given how good the quality of the mill is. Yeah I noticed right away the lack of a stop at the end of the rail! A friend who welds and has an ex boardwalk as well is going to help me fabricate an extension to the rails here in a couple of weeks. Toe board is a definite option I want to add…may fabricate one or buy the one they make for it. Thanks again and thanks for watching!

      Yeah it's pretty robust and well built! I really enjoyed my woodland mills quite a bit but I am really, really looking forward to using this mill more. The quality of the cut is really impressive.

    How long before someone snagged the 126 ? I just passed on a timberking 1220 that is similar to the EB. I’m feeling a little sick now.

      My phone blew up with messages for my 126. Guy who bought it I asked him to wait an extra week bc I didn’t want to sell it before I inspected the new mill so he waited and came over to get day after I got home with my new one. Had tons of interest in my 126 and probably 6-8 people saying “ I’ll come now with cash in hand” but sold it to first guy who expressed serious interest.

      That timberking is a great machine too! Have you got a mill already and looking for another or first mill?

      @@homeplaceadventures timberking was like new. 24 ft track. Sat inside for 8 years after owner died. Probably had 100 hrs. $7500. …. Only had the 16 horse engine and no trailer package are the main reasons I passed. This will be my first mill. Probably going for the 130max for the electric start and get the xl trailer. ……thanks!

    Nice recovery out of an old log! Two things...first, noticed your engine is positioned the same as my LX25 - what I did was rotate the pull cord 180 so can pull start from the same side as the operator stands - much easier so don't have to walk both sides, second, I get nervous when that saw head rolls downhill with the saw head not being raised, if there's any tension, that can easily pop the blade off the wheels if it gets caught on the cant. Made me cringe! Love the mill area, on my list is to build a saw shed - be nice to cut even when it's raining. ;)

      hey thanks for watching! I do have that saw head where it goes back on it's own...saves me a little labor and haven't had it hit the log or anything and impacting the blade but your point is well taken! I made some changes this week to my sawmill set up so no pull start for me now but more on that soon! :) Thanks again for watching!

    Ok I sure wish CZcams would let me correct the typo in the text to correct it from “log ferry” to “log fairy.” Ugh!!!

      @@homeplaceadventures No doubt. I was talking about the modifications to the 126. A company called “ Epicsaw” makes an auto feed and a really nice digital power head up and down. $1800 for both. I’m going for the sawhead up and down …. Bad shoulder. Tinkering with Tony is the channel of the guy that builds them. I was guessing that’s what you were hinting at. Lol.

    !Awesome! Sounds like you might find a few more rpm with an adjust of the throttle cable ? Thanks !
