How reliable/dependable were these automobiles?Could you drive it for 25 or 50 miles round-trip?

It’s mine boggling back in 1886. They actually had a working automobile/combustion engine powered.👍😊

I don't understand why the petrol and cooling water have to be drained. It is not clear why something has to be blocked when the car has to be transported. Furthermore, a nice demonstration of a very important invention!

Draining to prevent liquids from sitting there still and rusting internals away, you'd have to drain modern cars too if they're used once a year. Transportation blocks simply rigidly clamp the rear axle to the chassis, taking load off suspension springs (yes it does have springs), so the thing isn't bouncing around and springs aren't stressed when transporting. It isn't designed for the kind of speeds it'll be transported at, and kind of stress that'll happen if the transporting truck hits a pothole, so just a safety measure.

Les voitures modernes pas nécessaire de les vidanger pour l'eau, c'est pas des blocs moteur en fonte mais en alu.

This is a really good video if you’re shopping for 1880’s era basic transportation. 10/10, would recommend to a friend.

If they just sold the frame, you could easily make an electric version of this. Just have someone build a front wheel with hub motor and toss all the electronics under the seat.

Thanks for great explanation 😊 You definitely need to start a regular production for these iconic cars ! I will take 2 😅😅😅

Wenn ich den Sitz wackeln sehe, verstehe ich auch, warum Berta Benz so gern damit gefahren ist. Das ist wie der Ritt auf einer Waschmaschine im Schleudergang mit Unwucht.

    how does the throttle work?

    • @noahtaggart3483

The lever that you have to push is the main throttle that is sitting next to you after you started the first car

Very nice, we are building a model. Can anyone tell me how the drive works. From free to driving away, (clutch?) thanks in advance

When the leaver on the left hand side is moved forward it slides the belt from a free spinning drum to the drive drum.
