As someone with much experience in addictions with all types of substances and the process of recovery - Sheen's case truly baffles me, stopping heavy poli-substance use overnight is statistically almost unheard of in reality. My only theory is that he is bi-polar and slipped in to a heavy manic episode right as he stopped using, which allowed him to power right through the usual barriers stopping people from getting clean lol, so it may be the most fortunate case of bi-polar ever.
