S7E11-Internal Displacement: Will has to find out if President Bartlet's Son-in-Law, who is running for congress, had an affair with his nanny.
I do from time to time get fed up with the corruption the robbery the lies the loneliness and the poverty....
Well crap, I don't know if I even caught this the first time around. But NOW, though - I LOVE this moment.
I would only get married and have kids if I could hire a hot nanny.
What writing and acting. So rare. And I’m so grateful.
I love the way the music sits in the background unnoticed, then builds to a height at the end of the scene.
So did he do the nanny?
It's bittersweet that He Shall From Time to Time doesn't just denote the State of the Union but also allude to the fact that due to MS, he shall have those episodes from time to time
What I wouldn’t give to have a White House like this
Couple this with the final scene of the series and I'm powerless to fight back tears. Perfection!
My President
Martin Sheen is just brilliant!
Take us to Defcon 4? Defcon 4 is peace time. Hollywood always seems to get that wrong. It's the lower the number the closer to war you get.
so true & yet Will is the only one that ever seems to see reality for reality & not live head buried in the sand like Toby Donna CJ all of the others really. BTW in any of the handful or so episodes that the daughters other then zoey were in did anyone else see the clear emotionless & disdain the oldest daughter had all the time. I'm sorry but that tells me either she was unhappy whatever the reason was & thus he was probably unhappy & cheating even before this episode. It was clearly not a relationship truly based on love & it's only proved more when the husband tries to pressure the daughter to ask bartlett to back hubby for congress or something & even then you can see that the daughter/wife isn't happy doesn't want hubby to do it doesn't want to bother her father of it but ultimately does because she wants to remain civil with the hubby. He reminds me of hunter biden even before daddy took office let alone since.
This is the polished and edited version of your post? I would hate to see the rough drafts.
@@seanwebb605 lol nope didn't bother editing it or polishing it. I didn't major in or get a degree in stupid lit or journalism or writing or grammar whatever. It is what it is & there's far worse in "professional" high paid journalism, print media, news, magazines & books, etc etc. I didn't major in Russia or speaking Russia so I don't bother trying to hide not knowing understanding or speaking russian nor that I can read or write it. Its unprofessional opinion not rocket science or brain surgery or trying to explain how to conduct brain surgery.
@@craighanson-rc1md Yet we can see that your original post was edited. What respectable print journalism organizations offer worse writing than what you have posted? This should be interesting.
@@seanwebb605 pretty much any & I don't care about my writing. What I edit was about how the oldest daughter was not only not attractive but clearly pathetic & insecure from living in her daddy's shadow but as a result was not fun & thus why it would be understandable to see why the loser husband would cheat with a 26 year old nanny ...sounds familiar. It was clearly not a relationship out of love & respect it was a case both saw some benefit from the other. The hubby clearly saw money, fame, a chance to get into politics etc etc & the daughter who knows other then hoping he'd clearly be so boring she wouldn't have to worry about media attention like the other two sisters. trolls will be trolls.
@@craighanson-rc1md So you are dim witted and vulgar? Or what you would call "Real"
Every time that theme music comes up I get chills. Every time.
I love this scene. I love Sam. That said, his version of the introduction has Bartlett using the wrong pronoun. Sorry, Mr. Sorkin.
Am I crazy or was “It’s What’s New” a pretty decent ad campaign
It is a great speech, indeed. Just a shame not even he can get me/I right
It’s possibly one of the most poignant scenes in the whole show. The role of the Designated Survivor is as I understand, not really spelt out in the constitution. But we saw it 15 years later in the Netflix program by that very name.
I love the relationship that Jed and Mrs. Landingham have
A great scene, does Jed hear a noise in the adjacent room and know Leo is there and thus, without telling him directly, let him know how much he owes him.
You shall, from time to time, find a closest friend. A confidant. One who knows your likes, your passions, so well, their selection of gifts is never off the shelf. But searched for with care. Hand picked to brighten your day. Keep them close. These friends know who you really are.
What is Latin for 14th amendment, section 3?
Some interesting comments, sadly they were ignored when the Producers and Directors came to produce Designated Survivor.
dude, dont do it!! Thats the Maypor from Buffy!!! Hes a SAKE!!!
This is my favourite TV show of all time. But ffs do i wish they would turn a light on!!!!
"No, it's cuz this guy's walking down the street and he falls in a hole, see?" 🥹🫶
The west wing was a eutopian vision of how our country could and should be
West Wing & M*A*S*H have been the mainstays of my TV existence. I still return to both.
Harry Groener! Loved him on Buffy!
It is rather silly to have a nanny if you dont have kids, Will with an excellent point.
A nanny without kids would have been a good tip off, but it would have been a tax fraud story.
No, he didn't say it right -- Sam's version has a glaring grammatical error that would drive a pedant like Bartlet right out of his skin.
It's still a massive improvement on the NASA guy's take, mind you.
CJ's sigh at the very end is a great touch.
Sam was a tool to the NASA PA guy. It should have been "you, *I*, and 60,000 of your fellow students..."
If only the Democratic Party acted like this now, I wouldn't be a republican!!
What a radical idea: a president with a genuinely kind, generous, unselfish human heart. And, incidentally, an educated man who studied Latin.
One thing that doesn't jibe is their kids were probably too old for a nanny. The daughter should be at least around 18, and the son in his mid-teens. Unless they had a younger child.
This show really was a victim of it's soundtrack. This is a brilliantly written scene - tedious lib politics aside - nicely blocked and shot, and beautifully acted. But the cloying, sacharine strings condescend to the audience, flattening emotions and diminishing the scene as a whole. 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip' suffered from exactly the same problem. It's as if Aaron Sorkin doesn't trust his audience, or is determined that every bead of his self-regarding genius should receive an ovation.
No, that’s how a guy answers the question: “I don’t have proof the guy was nailing the nanny, but looking at a photo of her. I’d probably mail the nanny”
Hard to believe that it's been 7 yrs. since I wrote some of those comments. Getting (very) old.
Powerful, touching, inspiring. TWW one hundred per cent ❤
this fucking show was something else man. Every episode has a monent that takes nearly every other show ever made an entire season to build up to. Phenomenal.
If you find out snowmobiles are bringing 370 mill into your state, sit up and listen.
When it comes to voter fraud claims, Trump just makes stuff up. Thanks an MSNBC blogger. I took the thought and Like a child my mind exploded...... All Made up of course. RIP Alan Rickman and Dennis Farina. Posti ~ I post
The writing in this show was truly exceptional. To say nothing of the acting.......
Just rewatched this episode 2 days ago. Always makes me cry 🥹
Back in the days when we expected the President of the United States to be... ...better and not the reflection of our basest fears and prejudices.
Gotta come back to this every year
"I'm just telling you the male perspective". When someone is offering you an insight that you would otherwise NEVER be allowed to hear, just STFU and listen... then thank them for educating you with reality rather than letting you continue along in ignorance.
I love the fact that there where paintings of George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt blurred in the background of both actors. Very fitting. Great show.
When it was first conceived, Sam was supposed to be the main character of the show, that's why Rob was casted as the only real professional big name and well known actor (Martin Sheen was only supposed to appear once every fourth episode)
