Both programs give you the option of taking technical electives in fourth year. So in Civil Engineering there are some environmental based courses and in Environmental Engineering there are Civil Engineering technical electives. UBC's Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering will support students on a path to becoming a Professional Engineer. Technology degrees, like the Master's of Technology offered by some schools, will lead to careers in the same field, but will not allow students to pursue the career of Professional Engineer.
