Mountain Cabin Living
United States
Registrace 5. 11. 2022
Hi! We're Chris and Lisa :) We have retired from big city life and found an unbelievable perfect little cabin in the Blue Mountains of SE Washington. This is our story of turning a bachelor pad cabin in the mountains, into something more comfortable and inviting. Doing our best to create a simple living, homestead lifestyle in the process.
Renovating our Alaska Cabin Part 1 | Trip to McCarthy
Part 1 of settling in and beginning renovations on our new Alaska cabin. Job number one is getting water, accompanied by challenge number one, a water tank growing algae. Part of the joys of a dry cabin in Alaska.
We work through the consistent challenges until success is achieved, just as anything in life.
Thanks for watching!

Revealing the true level of work needed as we pull into the driveway for the first time. This is a walkthrough of the primary property and cabin in Alaska we will be working on through the summer. This project we'll be taking one step at a time as we figure out what we have to work with, and what our ultimate goals for the property will be. Despite the amount of work needed, we're in Alaska! Wood Chipper, Backhoe & Peonies | Springtime Work in the Mountains

Turning tree limbs into wood chips for the greenhouse as we extend the brush clearing to the back of the cabin. Adding the backhoe (after a lot of trial and error to fit it up correctly) saved a ton of digging by hand! It's been a wild few months as we frantically attempt to wrap up a summer's worth of projects before summer. With a new exciting opportunity presented, we will soon be shifting g...

We're excited to be ahead of schedule from last year, getting swarm traps up mid April. We get the hives and swam boxes painted after a quick re design on how we hang the swarm traps in the tree. Although it's mid April we get an unexpected snow storm come though! Thanks for Watching! Our (almost) final work on the lake! Fixing our leaking pond with Soilfloc from @NaturalWaterscapes . How we applied the pond sealer along with final thoughts after the application process. The slight swirling winds worked to our advantage, so we didn't end up using a boat for appling parts A&B in the middle of the lake. Did it Work? Spring Bee Check | How we Build Layens Hives | Prepping the Lake

Much like you, we are excited to see the signs of spring! The first day in months we're able to work outside in T-Shirts! As we get small pockets of dry weather, we're taking full advantage of only simi gooshy mud, as we backfill the culvert for the lake / pond. A project we've been planning and working on for the past year. Getting the lake to hold water, and drain at the right height is criti...
Getting Ahead Before Spring Mushy Season
zhlédnutí 627Před 4 měsíci
After finishing up the tree cleanup, it's time to move onto the lake / pond. Our attempt to raise the level of the lake is dependent on raising the height of the creek where it empties into the lake. Our goal in this video is using 18" culvert pipe to accomplish this objective. Thanks for watching! Chris & Lisa #mountaincabinliving #ghtoverland #ghtcreative
Outhouse Delivery | Smoked Brisket Chili
zhlédnutí 268Před 5 měsíci
One last relic leaving the cabin. We're kind of relieved a neighbor a few miles down the road wanted it. You'll see why inside! It's chili cook-off time in our little mountain town, so we smoke a brisket and try our best at a smoked brisket chili. As the brisket smokes we use the time to cut a few trees, allowing more light in and reducing fuels around the cabin. Thanks for watching! Chris & Lisa
A Winters Storm of Projects | Building a Murphy Bed & Butcher Block Table

The extra short version of three projects. As winter seems to be undecided with what direction to go, we build a murphy bed for the studio in the shop, along with a butcher block craft table for Lisa's "creative space". Although much of the video of building the murphy bed is MIA, hopefully what was captured is inspirational if you're thinking of doing the same thing. Thanks for watching! Chris...
A Little Work A Little Adventure | Winter Tour of Anatone, WA

As normal, we're getting work done at the cabin, busy as two beaver prepping for winter and running behind. After a lot of planning and waiting for frozen ground, we took delivery of a shipping container. After a little wrestling around Chris was able to get it settled in and level. Just as we were relishousing in the warmer winter, a cold front rolled in bringing us down to -19. Nonetheless, w...
Taking Advantage of a Mild Start to Winter
zhlédnutí 295Před 6 měsíci
Winter has been off to a slow start this year, so taking advantage of the opportunity has kept us busy. Clearing brush, downed limbs, and crowded trees keeps the fuel on the ground to a minimum. We've also been working on a studio space in the shop, along with a very aggressive goal of making over 40 swarm boxes and beehives. Oddly enough, as we post this video winter has arrived with all it's ...

If it makes you guys feel better, we have been here 7 years and have not been to the mines yet. 🤣 Sorry for the water issues, but on a good note, nobody got stuck in the water tank!
Too funny 😂 I read they’ve been grading the road, so we may brave another go at it ✌️
I wanted to go out there last week, but the owner of the SUV I rented strongly hinted that he'd prefer I didn't. Next time!

Hello from New Zealand, you popped up and I watched. Really enjoyed, have no complaints, enjoyed your company journey and music. Have subscribed and look forward to more. ❤😊

I've watched countless builds and we plan on pulling together several ideas to work with our Texas panhandle weather, and yours contributed the most help. TY!
Awesome! Thank you for your kind comment ❤️
New viewer. I’ll say this: I LIKE IT. Your property and home have great potential. I can’t wait to see the improvements! Congratulations!!!
Thank you so much for your kindness ❤️
It's been about a year. Did the deer fence keep the deer out for the whole season? Thanks for your time!
They did finally figure out how to sneak in under the bottom wire. So we added the old style wire on the lower section along with a row between the bottom two poly lines. Hope that makes sense.
@@mountaincabinliving That makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for the info and your videos.
Congratulations🎉🎉🎉 on your new property, may God continue to bless you both with love, peace, and much success 🙏💖😃 I just became a subscriber to your CZcams channel!

That waterfall across the road from the hatchery, you can walk up to the top of it. just beyond that area is a closed road that goes up to a big lake that you can walk up to.
Oh wow! Thanks for the info ✌️
@@mountaincabinliving I guess I should say you can take that rd up to the lake which is the top of the waterfall
You certainly have your work cut out for you!! Best of luck!
Yes! Thank you!
Are they getting it at home? No. I have lived in the city of Valdez. There is no way to capture it on only film. You have to be there to experience it.
So true ✌️
You both seem so happy. Congrats on move.🎉🎉
Nice to find you, I look forward to watching the renovations and your travels. Count me as a subscriber 👍

Hey, just came across your videos. Very nice. Music was a little loud but you can approve on that as you learn. Love the scenery. Yall are so funny. New subscriber and even told my hubs to subscribe.
Thank you for the kind encouragement ❤️
Kind of scary!
We don’t disagree. We’ll get her cleaned up ✌️
Your video popped in my feed probably because it had Alaska in it. So I subscribed. Washington is a beautiful state, why did you leave that place to move to Alaska?
The plan is both. Alaska will be summer and hopefully fall. We’ll see if it turns into more as the years go. Definitely great things about both places ✌️
The previous owner left you a lot to work with. It looks awesome!❤
Thanks ❤️
